I was sad to hear when I was a little girl, that the original Mrs. Kravitz had died. I liked her the best. I didn't really like the one who replaced her that much. I also was really sad, when I heard that Aunt Clara had died. I remember coming in from outside, playing in the neighborhood, and my Mom was reading the newspaper on the kitchen table, and she had got up for some reason, and I walked by and saw Aunt Clara's picture, and I read it and it said she had died. I loved Aunt Clara!! That's how much I loved Aunt Clara, if I can remember reading about her death 53 years ago.

I think one of the changes that were made as the series progressed was the reduction in the use of pyrotechnics. If one compares the smoke and flame and the duration in earlier episodes, to execute a spell, to the same effects in later episodes, they used less pyrotechnics with a shorter duration. There was also newer technology added in the sixth, seventh, and eigth seasons, green and blue screens and optical effects. I believe blue screening was used to make Esmerelda invisible, except for her clothes or glasses. Now blue screen is used quite often. In the episode SAMANTHA AND THE BEANSTALK, green screen was used to show the size difference when Sam enters the castle and when Tabitha enters the giants dinning area and looks so small. The same effect was used when she shrunk the giant. Erin Murphy mentioned in an interview that BEWITCHED was one of the first productions to use green screen. Alice Ghostly also mentioned the use of blue screening in an interview. Finally, I believe an optical effect was used when Endora brings the statue of Venus to life and the same effect was used when Sam brought Adonis to life. I'm wondering how they did the effect of Maurice's arrival in Paris in PARIS WITCHES STYLE. It reminds me of the effect used of the Angel of Death passing over Egept in THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. BEWITCHED was/is a fun series, something missing in TV these days.

Being a pure Japanese residing in Japan, I would always take this Gladys Kravitz for example, when I couldn't convince my immobility agent I was suffering from noise from my neighbour upstairs. Surprisingly, it always won laughter but never a solution since the neighbour behaved well each time the agent came to check the noise. I know how frustrating it must have been for Ms. Kravitz.
