Well technically ryuga actually never lost a battle fairly in his life 1.in metal fusion ryuga was actually controlled by l drago so when gingka beat him he actually beat l drago not ryuga since l drago's dark power had completely taken over him 2.in the metal fury arc, before ryuga battled rago he battled kenta and in that battle sagitarrio cracked l drago's face bolt, so ryuga was not at his full power when he battled rago Thus, ryuga himself has never lost a battle fair and square

On google it says that ryuga is stronger than both rago and gingka bcoz in fusion he got defeated by gingka by combining all the blader's power and defeated gingka several times, and was defeated by rago as u said and rago also stole his power

actually , the director of metal fight series (takafumi adachi) said that ryuga was alive in the manga but the anime is different from the manga'' . as of now , we dont know whether he is alive or dead , all we know is that he disappeared . but few moments prove that ryuga is not alive. i am a fan of ryuga but truth is truth that he is dead . he will remain in my heart forever . 1. the last episode of metal fury , gingka says to ryuga ,'' you are watching it werent you ''. then ryuga's face was shown in a cloud which means that he reached heaven . 2. in zero g , when the dark nebula successor captures gingka hagane , doji says that he had sacrificed his body for killing ryuga and has remained to be a soul to defeat gingka . in simple , doji meant that ryuga is dead . 3. ending of zero series ,there was a cloud in the shape of a dragon , that shape was the meaning that ryuga was happy , not that he was alive .

There is another possibility too, remember when storm pegasus disappeared in metal fusion ? Same thing happened with L drago so gingka's father revealed in metal masters that storm pegasus was just a prototype the real bey was galaxy pegasus which was much stronger than both storm pegasus and Lightning L drago combined there is also a possibility that lightning L drago was also just a prototype and the real L drago was still hidden somewhere and we also see a new L drago bey in the manga and in real life too called Guardian L drago so ryuga must have found the real L drago just like gingka found Galaxy Pegasus
