She said to an interviewer in Dubai: "Ya'll can all sing, you have amazing voices" or something like that. So she does that Middle Eastern style of vocals a lot. In fact I think it would be a great idea to take a look at other 70s era singers, like Gloria Gaynor ("I Will Survive"), Minnie Riperton ("Loving You"beautiful melodic voice, hitting the whistle notes way before Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey & also happens to be Maya Rudolph's mama, who we all know can sing & does a dead on impression of Beyonce, as an SNL alumni), Roberta Flack ("Killing Me Softly",which Lauryn HIll remade with The Fugees) , Chaka Khan (iconing, had some fantastic 70s era songs remade by other talented others artists like ""Sweet Thing" - covered by Mary J.
