Kya Lucero Having a nice tone is an opinion. Liyah was flat in a a lot of her performances, and this is coming from a stan of Aaliyah. If you check out her acapella I refuse video, she sounds good and her real timbre is being showcased. Not the fake lowered larynx one she used ften in her performances. With that being said, tone/timbre is the only thing good about her vocally, and they're both subjective. She didn't have another good thing about her vocally. Flat, lowered larynx often, bad technique, and the lost goes on and on. And her songs aren't that heard to sing either. She wasn't a studio singer nor a live singer.

I think its her tone or color of her voice...she dosen't really have any. especially compared to someone like Mariah who has several shades to her voice. I feel the same way she can SING and hit great notes, but I could never listen to a whole CD of hers I would get to annoyed. Its the same vocal color over and over again

I respect both of your opinions and I would easily agree with anyone who would say that Mariah is a better vocalist in general And if you were talking about Range then Yes Mariah takes it but Beyonce is not that far behind Beyonce's range is F2-F6 which is 4 octaves and Mariah's range is E2-G#7 which is 5.2 octaves Their belting range is both the same A4-A5 which is a whole Octave Mariah can only go One note lower then Beyonce and that note is E2 but when it comes to "Head Voice" or "Howls" as the video maker would call them then Mariah takes that one cuz of course she has a whistle register and Beyonce doesn't Beyonce's Head register starts from E5 up to F6 which is 1.1 octaves and Mariah's Head register starts from E5 up to D6 which is less then one octave but then her Whistle register starts from Eb6 up to G#7 which is 1.2 octaves which then gives her 2.3 octaves of Head/Whistle Notes But yeah maybe the turn off for people is her tone even tho I find it to be one of the best tones that i have ever heard...but at the end of the day that is subjective But what's Objective and is a Matter of Fact is that the Woman is as much of A Master Technician as Mariah Whitney Aretha and Patti are

TayTay Nippy I'm just gonna correct you on a few things and that is Beyonce does not have a 4 octave vocal range... live it's only 3.6 and she can only really tap belt and becomes thin above F#5, anything above G#5 or even G5 for that matter is actually pushed, people say she doesn't push but her highest belted notes are shouted because she is going out of her belting range. Same thing happened with Whitney Houston, brilliant vocalist but she became thin around F5/F#5 and shouted notes above it. Mariah on the other hand has even more of a grasp over her voice than Beyonce does especially in her prime and on top of that she has always sung with nodules which is something no other singer could do and be as brilliant and she was in her prime, Beyonce is a good vocalist from a technical stand point but Mariah is on a different level to pretty much everyone.
