jan tarazi aka THE JAN is a northern soul dj, promoter and a rare soul record collector. he came in touch with sixties soul in the early eighties mod scene. since 2003 he’s been running classic northern soul parties in hamburg like "for dancers only", "the soul seven" and the annual "hamburg soul weekender". for the mojo club beyond series he packed some rare modern soul records in his bag. his 2nd love beside sixties soul.

This is fantastic, what I call modern Soul not the slow tempo stuff many play in Modern Rooms. It may be modern but it's still about dancing not sitting in a room talking. Some great rare stuff here too.

My soul journey started in 1984 at the 100 club and the Norfolk village as well as turnmills. I was always attracted to the modern rooms rather than the main oldies rooms. Keb Darge and Butch were my heroes and a guy called Adam.

Some brilliant tracks and it’s great to hear how people have got into the Soul Scene from around Europe, myself it was Wigan 1974 then onto the jazz funk scene then back to modern soul and now full circle back to some cracking 60,s soul. KTF and those shapes were mighty fine.

A fantastic set, I started out think that because I am an oldie that I wouldn't know any of the tracks but I was delighted that at least 5 are in my collection. I must visit this place next time I am in Hamburg. Subscribed and liked, keep it up.
