Really enjoyed this great cover of one of my most favourite tracks. Captured all the essentials of the piece and especially its soul whilst deftly letting go of the more edgy improvised parts of the original live version to keep the song length perfectly under control. Any Dio cover that's going to make it has to have a great vocalist - and Alexx resoundingly hits the highs with clarity and definition - well done. Andy also captures the melodic lines and the gorgeous tape delay effects that characterised this period of Blackmore's playing without trying to emulate his excesses during extended solos. Instead Andy substitutes in his own themes which aren't over extended and yet keep in the "Ritchie groove" vibe. I think Ritchie did over extend himself during soling - and when he does, he momentarily loses my attention. Not so here. The drums, keys and bass also provide a really authentic background for the vocal and guitar parts. Only thing perhaps missing is Andreas' keys - Tony Carey did some great lines in the original which Andreas doesn't cover here - but maybe that's just to stop their version going on too long.
