37 years later and the weather patterns are mercurial. Wild fires smoke from coast to coast. Hottest summers on record. Ours to own.

People remember the fledgling Fox network for hit shows like 21 Jump Street and Married with Children. But people forget great educational programming like this Beyond Tomorrow. I remember watching this show religiously and with much enthusiasm when it came on. Been looking for episodes on KZfaq for years. Thanks for you putting them up! For this episode I remember vividly the segment on skateboards with wings! Wonder why that didn’t take off?

You're welcome. I am not sure why these skateboards never got popular.

Holy hell Fox had some great, obscure programming, this, and The Repoters. Both are pretty much lost media, except for what you uploaded here. Thanks for having the forethought for recording these.

wow... ...this is obviously a post-Saturday / post-Sunday cartoon lineup show for children... I figured shows like these existed even in the 80s...

But the idea caught on that the polar ice caps were melting, around that time.

Perhaps part of the reason the message was less panicked in 1988 is because we weren't as sure as we are today of our collective involvement in the acceleration greenhouse gasses? Not knowing your position on it fully, I'd offer that there are nearly 3 billion more people on the planet now then there were in 1990 (1990: 5.3B // 2020: 7.8B). Now that nations like China (especially) have adopted more of a US style level of consumption but with 4 times the population of the US (currently about 1.4B), there is a greater sense of urgency in a world that has (unfortunately) relegated global warming to "hysterics," a political conspiracy and/or agenda rather than a scientifically proven issue which affects us all regardless of what our opinions may be via whatever resources we choose to trust and parrot. In terms of the general mindset in the late 80s, I'd say we may have been less panicked by global warming but more panicked by other global issues at the time. The way we share information today has also greatly helped and hindered our ability to agree on issues. The behavior of our "leaders" have also further eroded our trust in any official message even if/when the message is a valid one. It is unfortunate that several issues that affect all of us regardless of opinion have become political positions.
