This bf4 guide is one of the best out there! To sum it up: - Always equip a grip for your weapons as there is nearly no downside for it. - Stubby/ potato grip for higher accuracy and angled grip for less first-shot recoil. TLDR: Snap a heavy barrel and stubby grip for "laser gun" and you are good to go.
@x8reaps2 жыл бұрын
Pretty much for me its just, if the gun has no recoil = Hbar + Stubby. If the gun has massive first shot recoil and spread = stubby. If it has massive first shot recoil but not much spread = Angled. Your unsure = stubby and nothing else. Highly appreciate it

Just a heads up. Due to the way movespread is calculated based on min spread. Heavy barrel actually gives a slightly greater movespread buff than ergo, so combining it with ergo ends up giving you movespread on par with just standing still. For LMGs that's a difference between .9 degrees and .3

The vertical grip is far more useful than the stubby grip. 99% of players move 99% of the time while shooting. The much lower minimum spread in the first place is better than slowing down spread increase as you shoot. The amount the stubby slows it down requires burst dozens of rounds long to notice any significant difference. This is why I put a vertical grip on every automatic gun, and a heavy barrel if the recoil is under 0.3. Otherwise, it's comp, flash hider, or suppressor depending on the situation.
@x8reaps2 жыл бұрын
Your comment has generally made me really curious and I will be trying it on stream tonight!
@AdamSchadow Жыл бұрын
This is not correct even tho most people move most of the time that does not mean ergo is always better simply because at some point usually only a couple shots the lower spread decrease of the stubby outweights the lower initial spread from ergo.
@thezombiepotato110 ай бұрын
I'd have to disagree despite being a huge advocate for the ergo situationally. The stubby and ergo reduce there respective spread by a percentage from the value of the gun, and different guns have different penalties, and ways you want to be firing them. Having high mobility is very important in this game but so it having great aim, and maximizing your precision when you need it seriously stretches the range on some guns. Ergo is fun but doesn't actually do much for smgs as their movement penalty is already low, and the high spread of their first shot base is already more penalty than the movement is, so stubby is generally much better as a choice for more aggression, though the angled works great on the higher dps per shot smgs if you're squeezing out some long range kills. The ergo is respectable on ARs and I could go into length as the why ergo+heavy is the only correct option for the an94, but the damage drop off+bullet speed and low spread means you kinda want to be placing your shots at long range with most ars instead of just giving up on engagements, ergo gives up huge potential for solving problems at distance or tight angles. I have started using ergo on all my dmrs now though, as the recoil doesn't bother me with any of them, and it does work well for SOME lmgs to where you can really crunch some numbers on them and find that some really do benefit most from it, but they all have very high spread increase on full auto making stubby generally both a safe and sometimes the clear winner for lmgs. It's a waste on carbines that don't have as high as a movement penalty but do suffer moderately significant full auto penalties, hbar and stubby seem like the clear winner on most carbines and I couldn't be convinced the ergo is the right choice, with weapons like to groza seriously being held back by the attachment limitations. Generally I'm always an hbar guy on *mostly* everything but am moving away in some instances, the high precision and just overal greater agency and potential makes it a clear choice on MOST guns. Things like the ScarH and p90 are outliers, as it turns out using hbar on the Scar is gratuitous when you should be tap firing now to reset the deviation anyway, the hbar doesn't really give much benefit until ranges that the damage drop off makes the gun poor anyway, the recoil may not be worth the hassle for a placebo of a benefit. The p90 and a few others have very high horizontal recoil, which is basically just spread that you can't learn (on most guns), so the compensator is actually the correct choice for it (almost want to throw up saying that).
@ponraul122110 ай бұрын
@@thezombiepotato1 First of all, look up what paragraphs are. Second, the vertical grip and ergo grip are the exact same attachment, they just look different. Third, the stubby spread reduction is far too small to be practical with most weapons. Another KZfaqr already did the calculations back in 2016 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bcybqZBynbCahaM.htmlsi=qaljrStA13MnFzvS), showing that you would need to shoot dozens of rounds without letting go of the trigger for the spread decrease rate to amount to anything significant. This means it only has a significant effect after just dumping LMG belts, in which case you should just be using a bipod. Use basic trigger control/bursting. As for the heavy barrel, it's only practical on weapons with low horizontal recoil. Weapons like the AK5C, CBJ-MS, SAR-21, G36, etc. which are basically laser beams. This is because the increased accuracy is nullified by the fact you'd be missing shots from its big recoil multiplier. Thus, faster RPM, higher recoil weapons like the ACWR, P90, FAMAS, AEK, MTAR, etc. should be used with the compensator to reduce horizontal recoil for closer ranges. In which case, a suppressor is also a good compromise. A good rule is under 750 RPM use a heavy barrel, 750+ RPM use a compensator. Muzzle break is useless on PC, pull down on your mouse. As for angled grip, that's basically a DMR and burst-fire weapon attachment, due to the vertical grip being so much more beneficial in most situations. If you feel the need to use an angled grip, you're using the wrong gun for the situation. (likely a high rpm, high recoil gun at 50+ yards).
@sykes50009 ай бұрын
Hello, good video! I want to point out two technicalities you did not mention but is of great value: 1) The spread in the spread circle is not randomly distributed over the area of the circle, but rather uniformly over the radius. This means it is more likely for the spread value to be closer to the middle of the circle compared to if it was distributed evenly over the area. Basically, spread definetly a number to care about, but is a bit less crazy than you'd initially assume. 2) While vertical recoil is predefined and can be learned via muscle memory (so muzzle break is never worth it), horizontal recoil is random (like a random walk within the weapon specific integers for HRecoil) For some weapons (e.g. AEK) this means, Compensator+Stubby grip is beneficial for the first x bullets. I Monte-Carlo simulated the AEK, Comp+Stubby beat just stubby within the first let's say 10 shots for horizontal deviation (I looked at that attribute, because missed shots usually feel missed to the side of a target, not over their head. It's also debatable what height of the enemy target people usually aim at, but aiming for the horizontal middle of a target can't be argued with.) The downside of switching to a compensator is that you have to unlearn the average HRecoil pattern that you are used to :D Long Barrel + Stubby was also better than just stubby, but you mentioned the crazy 1st Shot recoil yourself... it would take a long time of training for a small upside. Anyway, your video gives a good overview and I agree with most of the examples for weapon setups!

For each of the assault rifles you effectively have 2 options heavy barrel or compensator on all of those that fire more than 800rpm its mathematically better to use compensator assuming you properly burst fire at range. For the pdw and carbines your only option is heavy barrel because they are much less accurate. The suppressor is only useful if you are playing a map with vehicles and need to make it harder for them to find you. The grips are basically stubby only unless the gun is very slow firing then ergo can be better.

Like you said, attachments are playstyle dependent, and if you strafe/move a lot whilst shooting, ergo/vertical grip sometimes outweigh the benefits of stubby grip. That's why except from L85 (which I run HBar/Stubby since the bullpup design already gives moving benefits), FAMAS (again, bullpup so use comp/stubby), AEK (vertical only/stubby only/mix match with compensator when I feel like it), and M16 (HBar/folding since the spread accumulation is quite small due to burst nature), every other weapon like ACE, SCAR, M416, AR160, AK12, etc. I run with HBar/Vertical

Unrelated to the topic of the video, but I've been playing BF4 since launch, and I've used DMRs quite extensively. After the first CTE patch, which eliminated the visual recoil, I feel like they were very powerful (accurate, high damage at range). But after the big patch that changed all the weapon stats (either Spring or Summer patch, not sure), I've noticed they're far less accurate than they used to be (literally, I'm more accurate with an LMG), to the point where I think the accuracy on DMRs may be bugged. Do yo have any knowledge about that? PS: This is a very good guide, I'll definitely be trying the combinations from this video.

@pk-zi7lm3 жыл бұрын
@@EnkeiTenjin hbar stubby is bad on the scar because the hbar in particular combined with the high recoil and high FSRM makes it very difficult to aim at range. to be honest i don't know why he recommended hbar angled as the angled grip doesnt cancel out the hbar's penalty and it comes with the spread increase penalty. hbar angled is the worst of both worlds. stubby nothing is best for the scar and pretty much any viable weapon, except for the burst weapons and L85
@x8reaps3 жыл бұрын
@@pk-zi7lm Late reply but I mean may as well lol, the stubby alone is definitely not a bad choice for the scar-h like I said in the video its preference. But the reason why i use hbar+angled and not just stubby is because heavy barrel makes the first set of shots have basically half of all the spread, meaning my first shots will be very accurate, since the scar-h has a very low rate of fire I feel this is overall better for it because the spread growth is slower, the angled is to cancel out some of the added first shot recoil from hbar, I have used stubby alone before on the scar-h and it works great, but something about angled+hbar to me just feels more accurate and consistent for all the ranges personally. And just to note I use this gun by burst firing 2-3 shots at a time, I rarely ever full auto it.

@@EnkeiTenjin (pump) shotguns are balanced and are skill cannons. they punish bad aim and reward good aim. however, they have definite drawbacks: -Fighting multiple opponents -Worthless at range (and the most viable secondary for a shotgun, the .44, is only slightly less worthless at range) -Worthless if the target is partially behind cover -As said previously, worthless if you can't land your first shot consistently -RNG dependent; shotgun pellets for the purposes of spread are treated as 1 "bullet". as spread goes up the dispersion of the pellets does not increase, but the chances that all of them completely whiff even though your aim was fine does. the dispersion of the pellets is affected by the chokes. in all of those areas an assault rifle or carbine even would perform better. if you can't punish a shotgun user's missed shot then that's not shotguns being OP, that's you being bad. on close quarters infy maps pump shotguns require a lot of skill to use effectively, arguably requiring the user to know how to play the game more than someone using an AEK or ACE 23. on larger more open maps they are bad as while they are okay for defending/capping a point, they are completely useless at range. i strongly recommend watching Marbleduck's video on shotguns, as he goes far more in depth than I ever could. @@x8reaps So I assume, as you try to be very accurate with DMRs, Heavy barrel is a must? How long do you have to wait between shots until the second one is counted as a "first shot" again?
@x8reaps3 жыл бұрын
@@kev.kaviation1751 either by how well u can control the recoil between the shots or how long it takes for the shot to reset, its hard to tell and it depends on the weapon

what is the best setup for acwr? i can not find a single video that does not use a supressor.... that cant be meta
@pk-zi7lm3 жыл бұрын
no barrel and stubby grip. FSRM is too high for hbar, comp (outside of famas)/muzzle brake/angled grip/flash hider/suppressor are useless. ergo grip is good but only in a few situations

Would you recommend running the the mx4 with heavy barrel + stubby or just stubby
@x8reaps Жыл бұрын
tbh I never really used the mx4, but when in doubt, stubby only always, If u feel u can manage the recoil with heavy barrel then u can use it, make sure bursting is also consistent.
@d1stopian Жыл бұрын
from what i remember the best attachment to use on it is either the stubby or the egro grip OR only the heavy barrel

Do I have to unlock the weapon attachments by multiplaying or campaign??

Mainly multiplayer, but some guns you unlock by playing campaign.

Wait so hypothetically if you can handle the recoil why not run heavy barrel on the famas and aek?? Something about detrimental to burst fire??
@x8reaps2 жыл бұрын
Because it increases the recoils magnitude a lot, adding that on top of the first shot recoil makes burst firing far more inconsistent due to the massive first shot overrall recoil in combination with both, and in Battlefield 4 I find burst firing to be the most crucial thing, although some people do like using hbar and everything.

Yeah but it makes you better for other fps and the game is fun tho compared to 2042 and on pc it has a solid playerbase
@tagg9463 жыл бұрын
this is one reason bf4 threw me off. so many guns and so many copies of guns. almost every gun in the game has a sister weapon that has slightly different characteristics. on top of that, there are all of the attachments that completely change the characteristics of the weapon. its incredibly difficult to balance a game with over 120 different weapons, and 3+ attachments for each one that influence the spread and recoil. bc2 and bf3 were so much less complicated and waaaay more balanced. bf4 was just frustration.
@x8reaps3 жыл бұрын
I agree, you can never get it perfect but you just got to make the best of it, there is 6-7 guns that are just better than all the other guns, but some are overall fun to use.
