How do my product reviews work: In 90% of the cases, it's not "free" stuff I have just been given to review, I reject offers to consider gear on a weekly base because they either don't interest me or don't fit my quality criteria. So let me explain how I operate. In general, there are three types of product I may review: 1. Items I already own or have researched, and I'm sure I will acquire no matter what, sometimes I contact the distributor and get a test product, but otherwise I purchase it and may or may not do a review. That happens for the majority of stuff. Am I more inclined to do a review about an item I have been provided to test and which I think will interest quite a few people? Yes, 100% as on average, I purchase 5-10 items per month, and there is no way I could review all of them. 2. Items I have come across or have researched in general and have past my initial quality/usability criteria checks but I'm not 100% sure if I will use them frequently or I'm just keen to see how they perform vs a similar item I already have. These items generally I would not purchase, but I may contact a distributor to see if they like to provide me with a product to test if it interests me enough or it fits in a trip or video I'm making. 3. Most weeks I get requests from companies to review their product most don't interest me, but sometimes something catches my eye, and I think he that's cool, I like to try that and agree to do an unbiased review. I comparison to quite a few other KZfaqrs this is my hobby as I'm retired, I have no targets, sponsors or the requirement to release x amount of videos per month so I pretty much do what I like. I travel a lot, do a lot of 4w driving, I'm an accredited Driver Trainer and Assessor and I'm generally a fussy customer, so if I'm happy with a product, the majority of other people are usually too. Given that over the past five years I have achieved a reasonable audience and travel more than most often in remote and harsh environments quite a few quality companies have shown interested to get me to test their gear under this conditions. This is appreciated and in my book a win-win for everyone (as long as the item measures up). It is excellent for my subscribers as they get to know about products they otherwise may not have considered, it benefits me as it gives me a little back for my experience and work and it helps the distributor because it provides his product real-life testing and exposure. Hope this makes sense.

I usually run BFG on all my vehicles. It is finally time to replace my KM2’s and have been into the KM3’s. I’ve driven a few wheeled military trucks during my time in service and can read tire conditions from road noise, so for me I actually like the hum of the lugs hitting hard ball. I will be looking forward in getting a set of these and put together my personal review. Thanks for your personal tests and your honest opinion, happy wheeling.

Thank you for this extensive review. It's great to see that the KM3s really hold up well on these harsh bush trails. This gives us enough confidence in planning the next trips and trip gear. Also, impressive wear based on the kilometer driven. Will there be a follow-up in a few months before you replace them?

Changed my 285/75 16" KO2's to 255/85 16" KM3's in April of this year .. got over 40K on two set's of KO2's .. went to rebalance and rotate my KM3's at 7056 miles they are now 'JUNK' .. they can't be balanced and have humps. I never even got to air them down! I run them at 32 psi and they are mounted on a set of Steelies. I now have to look at a new set of tires .. 7056 miles! Great tire life, eh! My rig is a Ford Explorer Sport 2Dr and weighs 4500 lbs full loaded.

@@AlloffroadAu A bit more info on my problem .. the KM3's I would recommend to anybody! They were great in the sand and rough stuff. But, I live in the Tucson Mountains and I'm 8 miles from town going down a very winding, twisting road up and over a pass. The Ford has a great suspension and I've driven this road for 16+ years .. the Ford handles really well and I really push it thru the corners. The KM3's could not handle the torsional sideloading and caused the tire to go out of round. I actually have one corner that if I hit it just right I can drift the Ford thru it. This was an 85 profile tire v/s the 75 on my KO2's. I replaced the KM3's with my third set of 285/75 16" KO2's. Moral of the story .. don't put tall mud terrains on and then drive them like your on a road course. Still have not heard back from BFG .. I do have an active case number on this.

I run maxxis 764 bighorns for years no issue at all, were usually at 25psi constantly, full on 4wding over 100000ks on the set. I sold them and bought a full set of 33x12.5r15 KM3s and have regretted it since. They have 20000ks on them have cuts and slices everywhere(none have pierced through yet) terrible in mud and clay and i have them at 22 to 16psi depending on the terrain, wobbly and unstable on the highway, no good on tarmac in the rain etc etc... Once these are dead i will be returning to maxxis.

hm can not say that I have a similar experience, while I have not used the Bighorns though looking at them a few times (I found sidewall to thin) the BFG KM2 and KM3 have never let me down beside the one trip cross country where everyone had punctures 14 all up and i still drove the KM3 home with 3 plugs in the side wall.

Thanks for the review of the KM3's. You might want to get hold of some decent tyre patches (eg. Rema Tip Top) and patch from the inside, rather than using the tyre plugs. They're an accident waiting to happen.

not really it's illegal to drive with sidewall damage on the road anyway and the plugged tyre was only used off road. I have good tyre patches with me and they work well on the threaded part but not on the sidewall with low pressures which is constantly flexing

AllOffroad 4x4 Adventures TV Your information is incorrect, with the legalities of patching tyres varying state by state. It’s perfectly legal to patch a sidewall as long as you do it in accordance with the standards using an appropriately sized patch. I was recently looking to go to BFGs however my research showed that many BFG users are now not happy with the quality or durability of the tyres and there may have been changes to the original manufacturing process or materials used creating a less than awesome product. The negatives I read all indicated they do not last as logn as they used to, I went for Coopers (80K warranty) instead which reviewed better everywhere I looked...
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu 4 жыл бұрын
hm not my experience so far, I used to run Coopers in the past AT3 and SSTPro's and was not happy with them at all (At3 delaminated after 20.000km, STTPro's where good traction wise but far too hard so I had quite a few whole lugs missing. The Cooper warranty is not worth the ink if you ask me as if you read it as it does not apply offroad and not for the MT tyres. Do your research.
@titaniumquarrion9838
@titaniumquarrion9838 4 жыл бұрын
@@AlloffroadAu did my research. Perhaps you failed to check the Cooper Australia Warranty vs other countries? From their Warranty FAQ page: TRAVELLING OFF ROAD "Does the Warranty cover off-road damage? We do not warrant against tyre punctures and damage, as they are seen as general road hazards and not a manufacturing defect or reason for not achieving the stated mileage warranty for the tyre. Does the Mileage Warranty apply if you drive off road? Yes, we understand that most people will take their four wheel drives off road, but as stated above, road hazards or damage that is not a manufacturing fault are not covered." Of course brand experience between consumers may vary. What I do know is the objective and consumer reviews I checked from multiple sites showed that Cooper A/Ts rated higher than BFG A/Ts and people were far happier with their performance and there were myriad complaints about the BFGs falling apart..
@AlloffroadAu
@AlloffroadAu 4 жыл бұрын
everyone has different experience hence why I like to make my own. My personal experiences with 3 set of Coopers have not been great hence I haven't used a Cooper Tyres in 5 years, on the other hand, my experience with BFG KM2 has been great as you can see on 5 years videos with the tyres on many different trips and terrain and every set of BFG beside the last set of KM3 was paid for at full price. Would be keen to hear if you get 80.000km out of the tyres off-road and if not if you successfully claimed that under the 80.000km warranty. It’s good that you acknowledge that you are sponsored by the tyre manufacturer & that they were provided FOC for testing purposes. It would be preferable if this was stated at the outset rather than at the end. Viewers really have a right to “filter” your comments throughout the video, with full disclosure up front, rather than assume you paid for them & it was an “unbiased opinion” throughout, only to find at the end this isn’t necessarily the case. You can’t really “self claim” to be an “unbiased opinion / review” while admitting you are sponsored and the tyres were supplied for testing free of charge! No one in their right mind would accept a couple grands worth of free tyres & then turn around and bag them publicly afterwards. The “accepted industry practice” in these circumstances is to praise their good points and omit to mention any negatives. I.e if you can’t say anything nice then say nothing. Viewers aren’t stupid. All manner of tyre industry professionals who know the unwritten rules of the game will watch a review like this if for no other reason than to keep an eye on the competition. They all know the unwritten rules, they undoubtedly do similar & sponsor testers / influencers on social media. Knowing the inside running, some importers, distributors & manufacturers, who advertise heavily in print & electronic media will go out of their way to have the feature & support vehicles all shod with their product, for articles in magazines etc that they pay to advertise heavily in. They deliberately try to insure their advertising brand name gets featured in photos of ground terrain hazards & on stickers adorning the vehicle. If they can’t get 8 or so photos displaying their brand in a magazine issue with 2 big paid adverts (inside cover, cover photo, rear cover etc) then they aren’t doing their job properly. Assuming all of your audience are just your average weekend warrior tyro off road enthusiast is a mistake. Be up front at the start & allow viewers the ability to filter your opinions throughout the video, not at the end when they find out they have been duped & are in fact watching a paid promotion. $2K worth of free tyres, is a paid promotion, no matter which way you slice& dice it! Nothing wrong with it as long as your up front about it at the very start.

Hm if you follow my Chanel, you will see that I have no problem bagging a product if it does not perform and often make costly changes. I'm early retired, and my Chanel is self-funded, and my hobby. I don't rely on sponsors in any way or need it to create an income for me. This separates me from many other KZfaqrs however, in saying that I do a lot of research before I request a product. I receive this set of the Km3 without an ambassador agreement (so I have zero obligation). In regards to your statement that's industry practice to omit negative things, I didn't do a good job then because I showed I had 3 stakes in the tyre on the last trip but I also state the fact that we had 14 punctures among all vehicles. Your reasoning that I would be mad to bag a product after I have been given if for testing? Not at all, if the product does not perform as it should, or I expected why would I be interested further using it? I have nothing to lose! For the remote travel, I do I will not put up with mediocre products, especially if its something important like tyres, suspension etc. I disagree that it is a paid promotion, my equipment the time and cost testing filming and editing far outweigh the "free tyres.". It would be a very bad business model if it would do this for commercial gain and, to be honest, would have long stopped doing it. Yes, I agree in regards to disclosure at the beginning will take that in to account next time.

love your channel and you are on my subscription list - but agree that fact they were supplied free, should have been stated up front so as not to give the impression that you are not being frank with your viewers. A Paid Promotion write up is a little harsh for your channel as one can tell those from a mile away, and there's a lot of them around unfortunately By your own statements, you do careful research and apply critical thinking before selecting a product and you do not need sponsorship to make a living, so i would argue your opinion is generally of useful information to the viewers. Nevertheless your opinion is not quite at the same level as someone has to be pay for poducts who also apply critical thinking in forming their opinions and their only revenue on youtube is from ad placement and donation from viewers (not many i know and no frequent updates either so tend to be harder to come across); Whilst you dont need "make a living out of it", you do generate good revenue/discounts and freebies to help you keep your hobby costs low - overlanding expedition type of travel is very expensive especially done in style! Sometimes just because someone pays for a product doesnt necessarily means their opinion is not biased either - there's a lot of people whom i know of promotes (especially an expensive) product because they are want to be seen as someone who bought a dud! In fact i think the most useful reviews are from nerdy people who nick picks and can clearly articulate the reasons behind their thinking - i can then make a decision as whether the short comings are important to me or not. ignore the personal attacks, but i think the take away message is to declare upfront to keep faith with your viewers- you will earn more respects from your viewers. keep up the good work!

Hi Aron, yes I agree with disclaimer upfront is the way to go.If you follow my channel you know that I declared how I received the tyres in several previous videos. My critical thinking for a product which is important to me is all done before I request it and sometimes I make drastic changes (if my research wasn't good enough) for instance from elocker to airlocker, from a tuned vehicle back to stock based on my experience. I will never be able to make it right for everyone and while I value my subscribers im sure not right for everyone. Neither you or the previous commenter support me on Patreon which is one of the few ways to support a Chanel like mine and keep it independent. It’s easy to criticise nowadays at the end you are watching videos I put a lot of time, effort and money in to produce but you pay zero for it. I can tell you even with the occasional discount or free product and a little adword and Patreon income it no way covers cost. For that, I would need to start doing stupid shit to attract the million views but that is not me...

3 minutes in get an add for coopers tyres, coincidence? 3.40 in, two completely different vehicle's and set ups, bad comparison. Most of this proves knowledge and driving technique is far more important than the actual tyre as long as its good quality. Donated tyres to the value of $2500 (or much more being 35") is a paid endorsement no matter how you look at it

not sure I can't control what KZfaq ad's show up, Hm one is a chopped 105 and one is a station wagon 105 but it's also not meant to be a scientific comparison just an example. I agree though driving technique and knowledge are more important than the brand of the tyre as long as it's a good tyre. Not donated, I requested a set after 6 sets of Km2 I purchased over the years and BFG was kind enough to provide 6. If that is a paid endorsement and renders my experience with them useless for you not much I can do about it.

@@AlloffroadAu Still valid information for sure just in tread wear if nothing else. I'm always sceptical of freebies from any brand, it makes sense from a manufacturers point but will always skew the review whether you mean to or not. I've never run bf's purely on cost

I know where you coming from but in 90% of my reviews, I do the research beforehand and then approach the company. I decline plenty of products offered to me for review because they don't interest me or I don't think they will stand up to my quality expectations. While I like BFG it's not the only Tyre I would run the Nittos I had for a year were not bad either just another 4kg heavier per tyre.
