"The Israelis see Palestinians as lesser humans. That's the old colonial trick. You can be brutalised and barbarised... your people simply don't matter."
• Did US interfere in ICC investigations on Israel?
• Netanyahu shouldn't be compared to Hamas.
• Why global protest towards Israel is an anti-colonial resistance.
Vijay Prashad, a prominent historian and director of the Tricontinental: Institute For Social Research discusses the Palestinian struggle and more on Beyond The Ballot Box.

You can be a hero too. You can do something about it as an individual. Speak up, protest, boycott, educate everyone around you about the atrocities and crimes being committed by the racist genocidal Zionists and their Apartheid policies. There is so much each one of us can do as individuals to force our so called "leaders" to follow suit. Evil thrives when good men and women do nothing!

I see vague references and guesses for answers, but you just have to watch the interview. Vijay gives a clear answer if we listen carefully. In sum: The ICJ is a western racket, meaning much posturing by this body but only with little action. Interview EX: The blonds of Ukraine are given a priority with rapid criminal charges by the ICJ put against Russian leaders. But it takes months for some kind of declaration (not charge) by the ICJ of a plausibility of genocide of darker-hue Palestinians against Israel. And further in the past, the unlawful invasion of Iraq by the USA, clearly a violation of the international law, is not acted upon by the UN nor the ICJ. This shows a clear pattern of bias that favors the US and its friends--ie Israel in this case. Reasonable expectation with such powerful influence from the USA (as Israel's supplier and "shield" in its criminal endeavor) and a resultant pattern and bias with international bodies? Bibi will not face prison. Vijay makes this case very strongly.

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:00 *🌍 Introduction to imperialism and global capitalist system* - Imperialism refers to the undermining of a country's sovereignty, whether through direct colonial rule or indirect economic and political control. - Imperialism has existed since the beginning of modernity, with the global North (led by countries like the US) extracting wealth from the global South. 00:46 *🌍 The changing global political economy* - The end of the Cold War and the fall of the Berlin Wall were seen as the "end of history" by some, but China's rise and other factors have challenged US global dominance. - An empire in decline can be most dangerous, so understanding the changing global political economy is crucial. 01:13 *🤝 Introduction to Vijay Prashad* - Vijay Prashad is an Indian historian, journalist, and political commentator, currently based in New York. - He has written extensively on topics like Cuba and the concept of imperialism. 01:54 *🧠 Defining imperialism* - Imperialism goes beyond direct colonial rule, as it can also manifest in the constraint of a country's sovereignty over economic, cultural, and political decision-making. - This lack of true sovereignty, even after formal independence, is a key aspect of imperialism or neocolonialism. 04:47 *🌍 The concept of neocolonialism* - Neocolonialism was coined by Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, to describe the new form of colonialism that emerged after decolonization. - Neocolonialism refers to the continued extraction of wealth and constraints on sovereignty, even in the absence of direct colonial rule. 08:36 *🚀 Defining "hyper-imperialism"* - To understand "hyper-imperialism," Prashad provides a historical periodization of the last century: - 1917-1989: The Cold War period, where inter-imperialist conflicts were dampened by the existence of the Soviet Union. - 1989-2006/7: The unipolar era where the US attempted to dominate the world, but faced resistance. - 2006/7-present: The current "hyper-imperialist" stage, where the US and its allies increasingly rely on military force to maintain hegemony in the face of China's rise. 17:07 *🌍 Defining the "Global North" and "Global South"* - The Global North refers to a relatively cohesive military, political, and economic bloc led by the US and its allies in NATO and the G7. - The Global South is a more diverse and loosely connected group of countries, many of which have a shared history of colonialism and struggle for sovereignty. 24:35 *🇵🇸 The situation in Palestine* - The divide between the Global North and Global South can be seen in issues like the situation in Palestine, where the Global South often expresses greater solidarity. - The speaker brings up the example of the Malaysian prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, challenging the German chancellor's perspective on the issue of Gaza. 25:27 *🌍 Residues of colonialism and the international division of humanity* - The memory of colonialism and the international division of humanity shapes the global South's struggles against imperialism. - The Western media tends to focus on the stories of the global North, neglecting the experiences of the global South. - There is a perceived hierarchy in the coverage of tragedies, where the suffering of certain groups is prioritized over others. 27:26 *🇵🇸 The international response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict* - Leaders from the global South can empathize with the Palestinian struggle due to their own experiences of being treated as "lesser than" under colonialism. - The international community's unequal treatment of the Ukrainian and Palestinian conflicts reflects the ongoing international division of humanity. - The religious aspect, particularly the sense of solidarity within the Muslim ummah, also plays a role in the global South's response to the Palestinian situation. 30:34 *🏛️ The International Criminal Court's arrest warrants and the US response* - The International Criminal Court's arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leaders have been criticized by the US government. - The US's response reflects a double standard, as the court has historically focused on prosecuting leaders from the global South while overlooking alleged war crimes by the global North. - The US sees Hamas as a resistance force, while Israel is viewed as a "genocidal oppressor," highlighting the global South's perspective on the conflict. 31:58 *🌎 Hyper-imperialism and the constraints on the sovereignty of the global South* - The International Criminal Court has a reputation for being biased towards the global North, often failing to indict leaders from the global North for their actions. - The US has actively undermined the ICC's investigation into the situation in Afghanistan and Israel's actions, demonstrating its power to constrain the court's activities. - The US has also used economic and military threats to prevent countries in the global South, such as Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, from developing regional economic cooperation and partnerships with China. 40:12 *🌍 The decline of the US empire and the rise of regionalism* - The US's hyper-imperialist tactics, such as military threats and economic coercion, have been used to undermine the sovereignty and development of countries in the global South. - While the US may lose some wars, it is adept at destroying infrastructure and forcing countries into dependence on the US, rather than building lasting governance and legitimacy. - The global trend is towards increased regionalism, with countries in the global South collaborating and forming economic agreements, rather than the emergence of a multipolar world order. 50:19 *✊ The path forward: Sovereignty and dignity* - The key concepts that should guide the global South's struggle are sovereignty and the pursuit of dignified lives for the people. - Achieving sovereignty and dignity will naturally lead to the revival of socialist and egalitarian alternatives, as unequal societies cannot provide dignified lives. - Countries in the global South, such as Malaysia, have used instruments like capital controls to defend their sovereignty, which can serve as a basis for further progress. I visited Malaysia recently and met a Rohingya living there. A million Rohingya wandering Asia and even Malaysians are indifferent. I travelled to India the next week and no one I asked knew anything about them. No one except for hateful politicians in India even knew who Rohingya are. Later I flew to Melbourne, but by then I'd given up on talking about then. Many people do know who Palestinians are, but by number and religion Palestinian people and Rohingya are the same. One group trapped and hated and the other expelled and hated. So no, it's not just first world people who are indifferent and that makes me feel sad and lonely with my prayers.

You met a Rohingyan, but have you live with them? They caused trouble that even Indonesians refused them, ungrateful and demanding, they abused their UNHCR card to get away with the law, formed illegal settlement and driving away locals who have been living there, sets up illegal business and gets away from local authority by playing victim card waving their UNHCR card everytime. They took subsidized food meant for poor citizens and hoard them in their house. Ask the Burmese why they don't like the Rohingyans. Ask the Bangladeshis why they refused to take them all into Bangladesh?

Very smart and articulate by everyone. The host was very skillful and knowledgeable with initial definitional questions to provide a solid ground for a clear and well-organized interview. I know of so many "left" intellectuals working in universities who have lost touch with the larger reality and puff-up over theoretical details while losing relevant focus and concerns about others. This man gives us more hope without the excitable and less historically-theoretical informed views given on some other KZfaq channels. And most importantly, the message is that actual change will well up from those countries and people subjected to the horrific imperialism of Western capitalism-- regardless of the theoretical ramblings of theorists here.
