I guess i was one of the lucky ones who had the rings replaced a back in 2020 by GM because of the oil burning still have her today and no more oil burning so far so good..2.4l Ecotec

A service manager at a Chevrolet dealership just told me that GM will be selling BG products with GM part numbers. He also told me that he has done this successfully on a few used car lot vehicles. Other "engine restoration" products have caused catastrophic engine failure, likely due to oil pickup or oil pump clogging during the process.

I just had this done last week, so waiting to check. 2016 Sonata Hybrid, GDI. Just started losing 1 quart or so every 1,000 miles. Installed a catch can too which should help with oils being burned (which it was) and hoping to help keep the oil rings working.

Is there any difference if you run both timed RPMs in neutral with the emergency brake on or park?

It doesn't matter. Park is the same as neutral to the engine

@@megatruck742 ok thanks. Saw another YT video where a guy was doing this in a truck check engine light came on during the process and he burnt out his torque converter?

@@Marinate305 that's not possible, there's nothing that could burn up a torque converter like that it's just not how they work. A torque converter works by flinging oil at a propeller. Like if you took an air hose and pointed it at a fan the fan would turn, that's pretty much how a torque converter there's nothing to burn up. Inside the housing of a torque converter is one set of fins and as the motor spins the torque converter housing the oil gets forced onto an internal flywheel that has opposing fins. The difference between Park and neutral is when you put the car in park it shifts to neutral but a pin called a parking cog locks itself to the output shaft locking the transmission into Park. With no load on the transmission, the torque converter is just going to spin in its own oil.

1 quart per gas tank fill up. after the treatment, there was no oil usage

You'll need to add some oil to make up the difference.

Sad to say, it didn't work on my Equinox. Still burning 1 qt every tankful of gas. New head, timing chains, cylinders looked beautiful. Still had the factory hone. Rings are stuck and won't let loose. Very frustrating.

yeah, I've done about 50 of these services in total. I've had about 3 where it didn't do much

@@andujarjalepena4405 Hey there, I just saw your other PCV manifold hole video, it's great! On my Terrain, 2 months ago, I pulled the manifold back and cleaned the orifice and there was no consumption afterwards. Now, it's back to 1 quart per tank again. I did the PCV test and it still whistled, so concerned it's the stuck rings. Sad to hear the BG didn't work on your Equinox. Sounds like no further options without a teardown? I'm at 165k miles.

I'm going to try Methyl ethyl ketone (a strong paint thinner) down the plug holes. I will just keep putting cheap oil in it till it's dead if that doesn't work. Mine only has around 135k on it. Runs like a top. It's way cheaper to just throw oil in every tankful than tear the engine down. @@scottatkins1499

Search B12 Chemtool piston soak. Probably the best bet to get your piston rings unstuck.
