1st Corinthians 14:33 says that God is not a God of confusion or disorder ...but of peace! This passage and portion of Scripture is supposed to show that a worship service should be orderly and about bringing honor to the Lord; not making a show to direct other's attention to ourselves.

The word translated "tongues" in our English Bible just means languages. It doesn't mean hitting your literal tongue all over your mouth. One dude kept saying "hebalala hobalala hebalala hobalala" as though that's some mysterious language God understands. These people think making a bunch of "L" sounds is speaking the language of God.

It all works together to edify and upbuild the person and their spirit! The Cleveland Church of God, for instance, teaches this! When people are first saved (receive Christ), they are immediately put into classes to learn about Sanctification, The Holy Spirit, Witnessing, and so forth! 😊

My sister spoke in tongues one when I was about 5, she was like 11 or 12. It was kinda scary lol. I’ve asked her about it now (neither of us are in church anymore) and she never really has an answer as to why she did it.

I'm sure they feel whatever they feel but it's not a special language they're speaking. They're simply stringing syllables together and waving their arms, swinging their bodies. They work themselves up into a frenzy but it doesn't mean they're touching with God. Think about the people with the snakes basically doing the same except holding snakes. That's right but the bible says there is praying in tounges and there is speaking in tounges.. They are speaking in tounges, trying to get a message from God, that is suppose to be among a congregation. Assembly of God lives like the acts of apostles... That is how we should live today. This stuff freaks me out a lot, maybe I'm not strong enough to understand, and maybe it's the satan in me getting scared. It's just spine-chilling going down to the altar and having people jumping over you and running all over the place, my mom fell backwards at the altar, and that was my last straw. I believe in God but he knows I'm not ready, and I don't think I will ever be.
