ভারতে পাখিদের জন্য আড়াই লাখেরও বেশি বাসা তৈরী করে বিপ্লব ঘটিয়েছেন রাখেশ খাত্রি নামের এক ব্যাক্তি। পেশায় আলোকচিত্র শিল্পী হলেও বিশ্বের কাছে আজ তিনি পরিচিত ‘নেস্টম্যান’ হিসেবে।
শৈশব থেকেই পাখি ভালোবাসতেন দিল্লির অশোক বিহারের এই বাসিন্দা। পাখিদের জন্য বাসা বানানোর কারণে বিভিন্ন পুরস্কারেও ভূষিত হয়েছেন রাকেশ। পাখির আবাসস্থল কিভাবে বানাতে হয় সে বিষয়ে বর্তমানে তিনি সবাইকে নানাভাবে পরামর্শ দিচ্ছেন। তার কাছ থেকে এরইমধ্যে পাখির বাসা বানানো শিখেছে এক লাখেরও বেশি মানুষ। লিমকা বুকে রাকেশের কিছু রেকর্ড নথিভুক্ত করা হয়েছে। যার মধ্যে হাতে তৈরি পাখির বাসা এবং এ বিষয়ে বিভিন্ন কর্মশালায় অংশগ্রহণের মতো বিষয়গুলো অন্তর্ভুক্ত। ২০১৯ সালে তাকে গ্রিন অ্যাপেল অ্যাওয়ার্ড দিয়েছিলো ব্রিটিশ হাউজ অব কমন্স। এছাড়া পাখির সুরক্ষা ও বিভিন্নমুখী উদ্যোগ বিষয়ক পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন এই নেস্ট ম্যান।
