There was a place here just 15 miles away from where I live for troubled teens like what she is talking about. I live in a town with about 400 people. The facility was shut down because of the horrible conditions teens were forced to deal with. A few of them killed themselves or had tried. I seen the workbook from people who worked there and the rules were stupid. You couldn't burp, or fart without getting in trouble. They had to ask permission everytime they needed to use the bathroom. No makeup and they had to approve your wardrobe. You couldn't sleep in or rest unless they said you could. No one would ever think to lie about having a UTI. It’s also completely negligent and dangerous to not examine her claim. UTIs can develop into kidney infections. It’s happened to me. You can’t just leave them untreated. Sometimes mild cases clear up on their own if you Drink a lot of water but it’s better to be safe rather than sorry. It’s crazy to me that they gave her a “sick day,” for having a sore throat and then thought she was lying about a UTI. That’s wild to me. unfortunately there is a wiiiiiiild amount of abuse in rehabilitation/correctional programs for children. Evil
@hannahwatsun7 ай бұрын
You can die from it. I had acute kidney failure from having a uti for too long (have high pain tolerance and tend to ignore paid or anything uncomfortable as long as it’s not overwhelming) .. by the time i was brought to a doctor, i couldn’t move really. @@zay_gzs5635 I unfortunately worked at Provo Canyon School (one of these Troubled Teen Programs). My intention of working there was to help kids who went through similar tough experiences and struggles that I did. I quickly found out that the program (and many like it) are more punitive than therapeutic and are often traumatizing. The needs of the kids are often neglected and written off bc "they're just BAD kids that are trying to lie/ manipulate". Kids from these programs have had their own sites/ forums bringing awareness about their experiences, tried writing legislators and contacting police, tried suing (some successful and some not), actively protesting, and more. Their voices have more or less been unheard until Paris spoke out. Now they finally have a voice and are being heard. That's why you probably feel you're just now hearing about people coming out about this. I've written a lot about this subject in other comments if you care to take a look. You can even see reviews from actual staff experiences working at these places if you go to the Glassdoor site or check out the reviews of the programs from Google. There's decades worth of personal experiences in sites I've listed in another comment somewhere. I just can't think of the acronyms at the moment. Believe me, there's been a fight for a long time. Some staff that work at these places have good intentions while others seem to be there for the power trip. Everyone has their own experience and they will differ here and there, but in general they have the same story and I can back up a lot (not all bc I have my own experience and what I've witnessed) of their claims in regard to how these companies work. The TTI has $$$ and good attorneys. Anyone who speaks out is usually silenced, goes unheard, or is retaliated against. It's honestly scary to be discussing it as much as I have and am, but someone needs to help give these kids/ some who are now adults a voice and validation.
@JustJ-Me3 жыл бұрын
@@zay_gzs5635 Also, for a long time PCS didn't even have cameras. Cell phones aren't allowed. Phones are out of reach or very closely monitored. Oftentimes mail is even monitored to a certain degree. Parents are told if they hear anything negative about the program from their kid to just dismiss it because the kid is "just manipulating in an attempt to get pulled from the program". So from the get- go parents are left confused as to what to believe or not IF they're even fortunate enough to hear about the problems their kids are experiencing in the first place. There are Facebook forums for a good majority of these places that go years back describing the students'/ patients' experiences. If you don't believe it and are looking for more evidence then look into it further. There's KZfaq videos about "Provo Canyon School Survivors" that were put out way before Paris spoke up/out.
