Bhagavad Gita on Food | Benefits of being Vegetarian | भगवद गीता हमें क्या खाना चाहिए
--
Lord Krishna has told all the humans about food also in Bhagavad Gita through Arjuna. According to Lord Krishna, our food is of three types - sattvic(moral), rajasic(majestic), and tamasic(osculatory).
In the 9th verse of the 17th chapter of Bhagavad Gita, God says
That is, juicy and smooth foods that improve age, virtue, force, health, happiness, stability, the strength of the heart, are dear to the sattvic(moral) human beings.
The first word in this shloka is age, i.e. the food which increases the life of a person. Sattva means the virtue component increases. Bal means body, mind, intellect, etc. Moral force and enthusiasm are generated. Health increases in the body. Sukham means peace, and peace is attained, and love is born by seeing it.
Such sattvic food which is stable, that is, not strong, is digestible. They are also hearty, that is, they give strength to the heart, they are juicy, like fruits, milk, etc. Snigdha means ghee, butter, dry fruits, etc. Such food is dear to the sattvic man and it is only by this interest that he is identified.
The Bhagavad Gita also mentions about the royal food. In verse 9 of the 17th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavan says that
That is, very bitter, very sour, very salty, very hot, very sharp and very bitter, Rajas are dear to the person who is giving grief and diseases. Sour, pungent and burning sensation in the mouth, etc. while eating is sadness. There is a worry in the place of happiness after having such food, it is mourning. Diseases often occur in the body with such food.
Even in verse 10 of chapter 17th of Bhagavad Gita, God says that-
That is, the food which is undercooked, unblemished, deodorant, rancid and unholy is dear to Tamas.
Foods that have been cooked more or less, whose natural juices have dried up, which have developed smell such as wines, onions, garlic. Amedhyam means non-vegetarian. Such food is loved by the Tamasi.
If even sattvic food is eaten with raga then it becomes rajas and if consumed more with greed then the same food becomes tamasic i.e. it becomes the cause of diseases.
In these verses, Bhagavan has really given priority to the dietary's interest rather than prioritizing food.
While telling about the Sattvic food, God first explains its results and then tells about the diet because Sattvic humans first think about its results while eating.
The eyes of rajasic humans go first on diet, but not on the result, therefore Bhagavan has first described the diet in verse 9 of the 17th chapter of Bhagavad Gita, then later it is said that such a diet can provide grief and diseases.
Regarding Tamasi food, Bhagavan has described verse 10 of chapter 14 of the Bhagavad Gita but has not mentioned anything about its result because the Tamasi man does not think about the result of the diet. Whether the diet is justified or not. He owns it or not. Tamas humans tend to eat like animals.
Friends, it is said that the mind will become like what you eat, so for your salvation, only sattvic food should be taken to perform the act. Rightly earned food under Satvik food, on which we have authority, which is prepared in a clean manner, cooked and served with a happy mind, such a satvik food, if accepted with a happy mind, that food will undoubtedly give us health and strength.
Friends, we should give priority to our food, such as fruits, salads, etc., which can be taken naturally in comparison to cooked food. A human being is the only creature on earth who cooks food on fire. Many saints have sacrificed culinary food on fire. Such saints stay healthy by having only fruits in their diet.
Even on the basis of human structure, our body is suitable for vegetarianism only. Our nails, teeth, and intestines are different from all carnivores. The intestines of non-vegetarian animals are smaller than the intestines of humans, due to which the meat cannot remain in the body for long. In the human body, food can remain for many days. After eating meat, it will rot in such a time and will cause diseases.
According to the Bhagavad Gita, only sattvic food is excellent and loved by Lord Krishna.
In Hinduism too, some gods and goddesses play a sacrifice of life, but the yield of royal and tamasic indulgence will also be royal and tamasic. Srikrishnabhakta according to Bhagavad Gita, who follows the orders of Lord Krishna, adopts sattvic food and attains salvation.

I enjoyed the work so much! I've been trying to research for a instructional video similar to yours that really breaks down the topics in this KZfaq vid! 👨‍⚕️ 👏 The part at 1:28 is my favorite. Your vid totally is similar to the content from Dr Ethan. Ethan's demonstrations are useful and he helped me on my studies. He is an insightful medical student in the UK and he explains vaccines and diseases. Go see his page out and give the medical student a like! ➡️ #DrEthanAdvice
