Barkha Dutt reports from Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal, from JP Nagar . In this colony, most of the people who reside are survivors of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy that took place at the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant. These families are now witnessing the deadly second wave of Covid-19. Barkha Dutt talks to Kiran Tomar whose family has been a survivor of Bhopal disaster, and now has lost both her sons to COVID-19, who were also the two earning members of the family, contributing to their father's Cancer treatment.

Do you know gas tragedy of Bhopal in 1984 where Union carbide factory released poisonous gas resulting thousands death in the vicinity & people are still suffering due to side effects of gas. Arjun singh was chief minister of that time & Rajiv Gandhi was PM. CEO of company Anderson was arrested & after some hours he was released & sent to his country US by Rajiv Gandhi. Till today, people are suffering & have not got promised compensation from the company. As far as pandemic is concerned all western countries suffered heavily in spite of having less population & good medical facilities.

Heart feels heavy after seeing the woman (mrs.kiran) speak of her sorrows. Would like to appreciate ms.burkha dutt for sincerely trying to help by highlighting their issues,listening patiently to her (and such people) express her (their) difficulties.,and comforting her ( them). The central/state govts should not enforce too many rules for providing corona relief,And compassionately provide financial assistance to such families immediately with minimum papers and not strictly enforce extensive paper works which is not possible to get for some people.
