Bhut jolokia (also known as ghost pepper or ghost chili) is an exceptionally hot hybrid chili pepper plant cultivated in the Nagaland and Assam region of northeastern India and parts of neighboring Bangladesh. It is a hybrid of Capsicum chinense and Capsicum frutescens and is closely related to the Naga Morich. In Assam, the pepper is also known as 'poison chili', denoting the plant's heat. In Nagaland this chili is called Naga jolokia or Naga chili. The name bhut jolokia (ভোট জলকীয়া) means Bhutanese pepper in Assamese (the word 'bhut' actually means Bhutanese).
Ripe peppers measure 2.5 to 3.3 inches long with a red, yellow, orange, white, purple or chocolate color. However red is the most common and orange, yellow and chocolate are the rarer varieties. The ghost chili is rated at more than one million (1,041,427) Scoville Heat Units (SHUs). They are used as extremely hot spices in both fresh and dried forms to heat up curries, pickles and chutneys. Sometimes these peppers are smeared on fences or incorporated in smoke bombs as a safety precaution to keep wild elephants at a distance. The pepper's intense heat also makes it a fixture in competitive chili-pepper eating. According to Wikipedia, chili grenades made from ghost peppers were successfully used by the Indian Army in August 2015 to flush out a terrorist hiding in a cave.
In 2007 it was certified as the hottest Chili Pepper on the planet in The Guinness Book of World Records. However, it was superseded by the Trinidad Scorpion Butch T pepper in 2011 and Carolina Reaper in 2013.
The plant shown here is about 1 year old and it was grown from seed. Cocopeat (50%), vermicompost (40%) and perlite (10%) have been used as the potting media. The pot (clay pot) size is about 12 inch in diameter.

Damm I didn't know peppers could produce that many chillies in such small pot, here I was beating my self up because I have Carolina Reaper, Ghost Pepper 👻, Jamaican Mushrooms, Chocolate Habanero, Schotch Bonet and Moshi they are about 5 inches tall in disposable cups and I want to plant two of each but the space in my house is kinda limited I wanted to use 5 gallon bucket but after watching this I may just plant them on this small pots they seem to do well there, ANY TIPS!!!

Thank you so much! The main thing in pot culture is the potting mix, try to make it well drained and at the same time it should hold sufficient moisture. There is a video in my channel about how to make such universal potting mix, you can watch that. For successfully growing pepper you should provide adequate direct sunlight, at least 6 hrs a day, don't over water and use a fertilizer containing NPK values of 5-10-10, fertilize frequently but with small doses. Best time to fertilize your plants is the morning time. Also pepper are very prone to pest attacks, so you need to keep an eye on this. Using neem oil in regular basis can prevent the pest attack to some extent. There is also a video in my channel about the leaf curling in chilli pepper plant, that would be helpful.

Also there is a technique called pepper toping/pinching to get maximum branches in your pepper plant. There are tons of good videos in KZfaq, you can watch those.

But frequent watering/showering will be needed, especially during the hot summer. Try to give them the morning sunlight up to 11 AM in the summer.

Actually it's heat loving plant and it might loose its beauty during cold. But that is just a dormant period for the plant, it will recover once winter is gone. Avoid using fertilizer and over watering during this period.

Thank you so much for this video. I have just made saplings of habenaro chilies ( quite similar to bhut jalokia) from some fresh chilies that I purchased from a store selling imported food products . The saplings are at 4 leaves stage . I stay in Delhi and we have received minimum rainfall this year and it’s pretty hot . Any tips you can give so that I can have some success. I have made some well drained porous soil mix with coco chips ( not peat) vermicompost , bonemeal and neem khalli, fungicide . Any thing more? Will be grateful for any advice

Excellent! Let the seedlings settled first, then start applying some balanced fertilizers with NPK 5:5:5, you can use organic fertilizer like compost tea (there is a video in my channel) or seaweed extract. After it gets few new leaves apply neem oil in regular basis (once a week at least) to prevent pest attacks. Hot chillies like Habenaro orange need plenty of direct sunlight, try to provide 5 to 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Don't overwater, it's the main reason for killing most of the potted plant. If you see severe pest attacks, there is a video in my channel which might help you to get rid of leave curling diseases in chilli plants, you can watch that. Also let the plant get bigger with plenty of green leaves, then you can apply some fertilizer with good amount of phosphorus and potassium (like NPK 10:26:26 or organic bone meal or bone dust and seaweed). This will boost the flowering and fruiting in the plant. You'll definitely get succes! Please don't forget to update here. Happy farming! 👍
