This 8 days hike in the Himalaya is one of the best hikes we have ever done. It is part of the famous Snowman trek. Absolutely gorgeous. The first 3,5 minutes is about the temples etc. around the starting point (the guides will take you there). After that it's all about hiking really big mountains, high altitude, culture, a meeting with the prime minister and the Prince of Bhutan, beautiful nature and a lot of fun on the trail. Oh, and did we mention AWESOME views :-)
This is part 1 in our 4 part series on Bhutan.
Part 1: Jolmohari trek (this video)
Part 2: Central Bhutan • Bhutan part 2 Central ...
Part 3: Ambay Lhakhang festival • Bhutan part 3 Ambay Lh...
Part 4: East Bhutan • Bhutan part 4 East Bhutan
We make the videos for free, just for you to enjoy.
Please enjoy the film and share, like, subscribe or place a comment on our channel if you liked it. Thanks!

This is the most beautiful hiking video I've ever seen. The camera work, the music, the graphics and most importantly the simplicity of the overall video is simply amazing. It reminded me of my trekking to ABC. Thank you so much. God bless you!

Hi Trisha. I'm trying to be humble now, Bhutan did most of the work. Thanks for leaving a message. We don't make any money on the videos we make (Google and others do). We do it purely so others can enjoy it and to have nice interactions with people like you!

Friendly Hiker this is amazing & so relaxing, I’ve watched it repeatedly? What is the song in the intro, “Om Mani Padme Om” - I’d really love to find the artist. Thank you!! 💕

@@faithintheunseen1294 Hi. A difficult question. We found this music on KZfaq about 6 years ago. We've been trying to find the original composer but were unable to find it ourselves, since very many people have shared the music with their own name and own pictures/video on top of it. But nobody credited the original composer. We believe that the voices in the song are from a group of monks that chanted it. Afterwards the composer found that chanting and composed the melody on top of it. If you like it, just type Oh Mani Padme Um in KZfaq, and you will find one of the shared original ones (no music) and the one that we used. sometimes you can download it too for offline use. If you ever find the original composer, please let us know, so we can credit him/her accordingly.

I was a diehard trekker and have covered many places in the country, particularly Sikkim and Gorkha districts (India). Retired now and ever so often I get the itch. And believe it or not a Bhutanese class friend of mine from school today offered to take me on a trek with him! How wonderful! We left school 50 years ago! If restrictions are lifted we meet up in Kathmandu in Oct. Waiting with excitement to do this trek. Thanks.

@@FriendlyHiker We're having our reunion at Kathmandu for 3 days and then we push on to Phokara, those who have signed up, and one of the milder treks we'll do. Then I go to Bhutan with this classmate (I saw him in your video) and we will plan a 5 day trek. By the way the topography of your Bhutan trek is very similar to what I've done in Arunachal Pradesh. You should try trekking here. Beautiful and challenging!

Great video. Question for you. How would you compare big mountain scenery on this trek vs some of the classics in Nepal? I know there are lots of other pros/cons but want to make sure Scenery is epic if travelling around the world again. Which days were your favorite?
@FriendlyHiker
@FriendlyHiker Жыл бұрын
Hi Tim. We have no experiance in other Himalaya countries, so unfortunately no comparison from our part. We opted for this trail since we wanted to see the unspoiled country of Bhutan, and hike in an environment where we meet authentic people, instead of a Coca Cola route. That said, we hear Nepal is extremely pretty, so if you don't mind the people, than go there. It's also a lot cheaper. We had to pay the governement 250 dollar a person for each day we stayed in Bhutan... Maybe that's also why we only met 2 other hikers from outside Bhutan on that trail. Our most faforite days on this hike were the ones where we meet the locals close to the Jomolhari mountain. The next day too, when we hike to the highest pass. Increadible scenery. The triangular mountain is so big, the Matterhorn in Switserland would fit in it 3 times over 🙂

Hi Rita. Thanks :-) We live at sea level, so high altitude training was a problem for us. What we did to compensate was A LOT of cardio training. like running up hills etc. So the oxygen could go quicker into the bloodstream. We also hike a lot. So our bodies did not have any problem on that part.

Hi Fleur, Sorry for the late response; we were away for a while. Regarding your question. We were in Bhutan for 6 weeks. And with an entry fee of 250 dollar a person a day, we had to save a couple of years to make that happen. However, it was worth it. Because of the immense price Bhutan is asking for visitors, most people only stay for a week or 10 days at the most. And mostly in the east to visit temples etc. We wanted to hike and explore the lesser visited regions of the country and also have plenty of time to see some festivals and have real encounters and conversations with people of one of the last remaining civilizations that is not affected or corrupted by western greed. For advice, well, it's pretty much regulated. So you cannot enter the country without a Bhutanese tour company. They will setup everything. Included in the entry price is housing/ lodging, guides, food and drinks etc. We booked with Rainbow tours. They arranged everything very well, but their guides were not that good. Next time we would do more homework for a company that has guides that are not drunk during a festival (and was therefore not able to give us any explanation about what was happening those days). We saw other guides that were very knowledgeable, and listened to them. If you find a company on line, check what others have to say about them. We hope you will go ne day, it's a life changing experience. Good luck! We used a semi professional HD camera from Panasonic. It has great lenses and a very good optical zoom.

Hi Liz. It was Rainbnow tours. But we have mixed feelings about them. Although the trip was well organized, the guides were not that good

Hi Subash Limbu. The Himalaya area of Bhutan starts in the west of the country and continues northwards. It basically follows the Tibetan (China) border.

Shine Your Way Good question. No. Not recommended. These are very high mountains and get a lot of snow on the winter.

Hi. Sorry for the late response. Somehow your question slipped through. Sorry for that. The music we used is from: R.R.SP.Project and is called Theravada Song. Here is one link to their song: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sKygjMh_1M7coqc.html

While editing, we choose music that supports the mood for that perticular scene. Not always is the music from a perticular country the right sound for a specific emotion. But in fact, there were two tracks of Bhutanese music in there.

Thanks for leaving a mesage. Yes indeed. We found that out too. Although Bhutan is not as developed in from that point of view, it was way more developed in a spiritual way than most countries around the world. We were 3,5 weeks in Bhutan, and learned a lot when we were there.
