Take Bias Lighting to the next level. Get Philips Hue LED strips, pop them on the back of your TV, monitor TV with phone or tablet and have it adjust the LED's to match color of TV (I already do this). Perhaps write a Kodi addon to do this? I have a Samsung TV, I wouldn't mind native Samsung TV Support for Philips Smart Bias Lighting.

I just bought an $8 White LED lamp on a flexible head...then put it next to my monitor, facing at an angle dead-center behind my monitor. It serves as bias lighting when I want it...and the cord is long enough that I can use it as a flashlight for isolating spots in my room that need cleaning...or as a worklight due to its flexible nature. The only downside is that the LEDs are integrated and nonreplaceable...but it was $8 and has an estimated lifespan of 25,000 hours (about 3 years).

Should have mentioned the dynamic ambient light that is on Phillips TV's and third party boxes that goes into hdmi. These uses rgb to change colors at the borders of the screen extending the image somewhat and are really neat. I hope when Phillips patent expires that all manufacturers get it on their TV's since it is so nice. You can also do it yourself with a raspberry pi.
