I am a woman and I like it when men behave like Biblical men - the leaders God made them to be.

Great job. Whole heatedly agree with all that you said. Men need to be engaged in their Bible, their family, their churches, their community, and their nation. Too man men check out and feed their own desires and neglect their God given roles! Amen!

Excellent, concise list. I will be sharing with my 17yr old son. I'm doing well with some of these point, can do better with others, but I'm really starting to consider the importance of intentional Biblical Manhood. I think it was a lot more intuitive for me growing up than it is for boys today. You mirror and expand on John Lovell's concept of the Warrior Poet. Thank you!

Thank you for all you do in the power of the Lord, brother. You list here several things of which I am convicted daily. Growing up in a non-Christian household with no dad certainly set me up to live a life falling short in many of these areas. But at 53 I have for about 3.5 years been devoted to being a disciple and I humbly covet your prayers that I would continue to grow to be more like my heavenly Father.

1 Kings 2:2 was one of the first Scriptures I've memorized and it will always be my favorite verse. King David says to Solomon "I am about to go the way of all the earth, be thou strong therefore, and shew thyself a man".

Also, I also “pay attention” when something comes up in my personal study…that then comes up from a pastor/teacher a day or so later! I was studying the verses about “take up your cross and follow me” and was struck how that relates to our earthly vocation almost EXACTLY as you phrased it! Proof of we serve ONE GOD, and the Holy Spirit still moves in us today!

I tried to make friends in my church by offering to help another man with manual labor on his homesteading and he responded “ I have a tractor for that”. And I’ve realized that summarized my experience trying to make man-friends in the conservative reformed circle.

Regarding the estranged family member, I think it is important to take into account the reason for the estrangement. Case in point, my grandson. He is extremely mentally disturbed. He has estranged himself from the family, accusing us of all manner of criminal activity. He believes many conspiracy theories, and he has made threats. Lots of threats. He called up and threatened to kill every doctor, nurse, and staff member of our local hospital; and then he did the same thing with all the county office holders (including the Sheriff); and he also threatened to slit our throats while we are sleeping. He was very specific about these threats. In cases such as these, when the estranged family member presents a clear danger to yourself and your family member, do not simply invite him or her into your home trying to rebuild a relationship. Currently my grandson is locked up in a mental hospital awaiting trial for making terroristic threats. He is in communication with us, so that's a start, but he only seems to trust my wife, and that is at best a tentative trust. Be very careful in situations such as this. Be safe, protect your family and protect yourself.

A couple of comments: 1. While I don't disagree with any of your points, that a Christian man should be X, Y, & Z, there are many of these qualities that should apply to all faithful Christians, regardless of sex, e.g. friend, lover, neighbor; I can't think of any reason why these aren't equally applicable to women. It would be helpful to have a video/article/sermon with Biblical explanations (actually citing scripture) of why particular Christian attributes should be more strongly embodied by men. 2. Scholar? Is there a Biblical instruction to become an expert in a particular field of knowledge? I know it can be helpful, but it also enables pride, puffing oneself up.

He was focusing on MEN here. THEY are the ones being denigrated at every turn. Is it too unbearable to focus on men for a few minutes, since the entire culture these days revolves around women? How about Matthew 22:37, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." That does not only apply to knowing God's Word. We are to honor God with our intellect, in general. That's why up until fairly recent times, it was Christians leading the way in intellectual, artistic, musical, and scientific pursuits, explicitly from a biblical worldview. Ignorance, apathy, and intellectual laziness are not virtues. Proverbs speaks on this too. 22:29 Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men. Also, one of my favorite portions of Scripture is the building of the tabernacle. (Starting in Exodus 25.) it required people skilled in various areas, for the building, the decorations, the furniture, the utensils, the clothing for the priests, etc. Only the most skilled craftsmen were selected. That means they must have already pursued excellence in their particular line of work that they did day to day. Imagine being selected for such an honor!

This is a beautiful well worded video. However why is this named a man’s manifesto? I’m pretty sure this can just as easily be a woman manifesto! If not again why should a woman ever take the time to know the word? This is an example of theology being destructive…

You are right to point out that these things are also qualities of godly women. I don’t want to speak for him but I don’t presume he would look down on any woman who would pursue these things, but he is simply speaking to men here. He is not excluding women but simply focusing on men. The Bible does show us that men and women compliment each other in their roles and yes women should be lovers of their husbands, they should be disciples, they should be involved in church and on down the list we could go, but men are called to lead in these areas. Not that they are better than women, but they are called to guard, to keep and to lead. Women have many unique roles as well that do not belong to men. I am personally deeply sorry you found this video to be destructive or burdening. There are some things men are called to do that women are not called to do and we must never forget the inverse of that statement is true as well. If you notice he referred to places such as Proverbs 31 and other passages in a biblical picture of womanhood. There are many overlapping qualities that men and women share, there are also qualities that we do not share and that is how men reflect Christ and women reflect the church. It is good that God has made us to compliment each other. Remember friend, this video is again not focused on excluding women but more on waking up the weak and feeble men who are being wooed away from Christ and drawn toward the worlds picture of who they should be.
@yahuntersmndss107
@yahuntersmndss107 7 ай бұрын
Thanks friend! I’m glad you see the overlapping roles of men and women. This is why I would have called this video simply a Christians manifesto. Or maybe the Bible believers manifesto. Directing following biblical teachings only to men and being more offended by gender inclusive language than any other change made to the Bible like the “missing” verses. I do think is destructive to the more conservative Christians among us. The war on woke is a war against anything different than themselves and god calls on us to love everyone including our enemies. This could be considered a woman’s trait by some. Especially if they believe the Bible calls on men to be “warriors” and “fighters”. Just my opinion…
@jeffreywatts3105
@jeffreywatts3105 7 ай бұрын
@@yahuntersmndss107 I would love to consider with you some of these topics more deeply but this isn’t the medium for that. I will say a few things to conclude. I do believe men and women have overlapping roles, but they also have distinct roles. The Bible does not present men and women with exactly the same role. Men and women are different. Also, when it comes to the “war on woke” as you call it, I do believe that Pastor Matt here is loving his enemies in this discussion. Remember, love rejoices in the truth. It is not loving to affirm a harmful lie and much of the woke ideology is harmful and set against the gospel. To love them, we must tell them of their error and point them to the truth in Christ. Anything less would be actually unloving to our enemies. In some ways, men are called to be warriors. Pastor Matt was very careful to preface that this does not mean we go around physically attacking those around us. But men are not afraid to fight for the things that matter and that sometimes does include physical protection. If Adam had completed his role in the garden, he would have seen the serpent, rebuked it with Gods promises, crushed its head, and thrown its dead body outside of the realm of Eden. In calling Adam to guard and keep the garden, God did call Adam specifically to physically and spiritually protect the garden, so he calls all men to guard and keep the garden of their own hearts, families, and churches today. Eve was Adam’s helper. Adam was Eves protector. They had distinct roles. Yes they did have some overlapping roles as lovers of God, each other and so forth, but God called them to have different roles. I pray that you can see these things Pastor Matthew is pointing out as good and not destructive.
