Clarification on the books in my Bible: The Septuagint is the translation of Old Testament Scriptures from Hebrew into Greek, sometime between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. It is also known as the LXX because tradition holds that the translators were 72 Hebrew scholars, represented in a group of 6 from each of the 12 tribes. Now, the rest of the story about how the Greek Pharoah Ptolemy initiated this project is available online. More importantly, it was necessary.
The predominant language in the known world at the time was Greek, even among the Jews. There isn't a concensus among scholars as to when the Hebrew canon of Scripture was later finalized, but it wasn't any sooner than 140 BC and may have been as late as 200 AD. It excludes some of the Septuagint books (known collectively as the Apocrypha in Protestism), but Orthodox Christianity continues to use the LXX fully via translations into native tongues. The Septuagint is the oldest translation from Hebrew. Jesus and the New Testament authors quoted from it, including the apocryphal books. They quoted from the Hebrew texts as well. There is plenty of information online about all of this, so research to your heart's content. 🤗
