Bible Museum's New Worship Exhibit Gives Viewers a 'Foretaste of Heaven'

There's something new at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., just in time for the busy summer season. It's a worship experience like you've never seen or heard before.
It's called "All Creation Sings" and is inspired by Psalm 148 which declares, "Let them praise the name of the Lord!" It's a 45-minute experience posing the question: What is worship?
Garrett Hinton, Chief Revenue Officer at the Museum of the Bible, says, "When somebody says worship to me, my mind immediately goes to the thing that we do at church on Sundays before the pastor gets up and gives the sermon. That's worship and indeed, that is worship. But as the Bible talks about worship, it's so much more than that. So the story is the story of the Bible, and it's taking you from Creation or Genesis all the way to Revelation."

This is beautiful. Singing praises to God is absolutely Biblical, but it's also having a reverence for God that causes you to obey him and love him with all of your heart. Worshiping God is loving your neighbor, helping the poor, doing things you know God wants out of love for him.

I'm not Downing the museum, but the fact at the end that they said, what if churches get ahold of this and we get to experience worship in a different way. It's not about emotionalism. This is what's wrong with the world right now we base everything off of feelings, it's not about what we see or feel it's about believing in God for who he is and who he says he is. We shouldn't have to have a performance, light smoke, a feeling to know that God is real and almighty. Omnipotent and amazing and who he says he is stop basing everything off of emotionalism. I'm sure this might be cool and I get what they're trying to do I guess. But a lot of the people in the artist that I hear listed are all very based on. Look at me and emotionalism, not all of them, but most. This is coming from someone who has done worship. My whole life I sing, I love to dance I. Relate to David in the Bible in a lot of ways, I feel close to how he talks about worship and I don't think that churches should bring this into their services. I think that that's just a feeling and entertainment, what happens to reverence? I lost focus growing up basing it off of a guitar and a piano and being in all of charismatic worship, but we tend to forget about. The intimacy and hymn books and the importance of worship, psalms was really like a hymn book and poetry. It was beautiful, it didn't have to paint a picture for us to believe it it was in our hearts.

Correct. It's also taking another man's view of the bible and putting their view in real time instead of letting one picture it themself. I feel this new technology strips away our imagination. Beautiful, it may look, but the mind remembers a lot, and it doesn't take much to remember something incorrectly. Children are to young to have DISERNMENT.

I agree. The litmus test was when the reporter asked all the kids, "What was their favorite part?" None of them mentioned the bible. It could be that it was edited out. But why if it's about a bible museum?

There may be a place for such experience, but it should never be duplicated in Church. Christ called the Church a house of prayer. Prayer requires reverence which comes from responding to the work of the Holy Spirit. I can't help but feel a burden for the Christians in prisons in Iran and around the world because of their steadfast faith in Christ. Many don't even see the day of light much less spectacular three D displays. It troubles me that in much of the western church, the Word of God, meditation and prayer has taken a back seat to thrills.

But it is an earthly experience, you would soon grow bored with it. Still it is good to long to be there.
