The pharaoh is never named in the bible but people assume its ramesses because it says that the Israelites built the cities of ramses etc. However just because a city shares a similar name with a ruler or vice versa doesn't automatically denote chronological kinship, esp when the names are derived from a widely worshipped deity in the culture. This mistake is also linked with false assumptions made by secular archeologists who deny the bible as a historical document.

Dating events that happened thousands of years ago isn't cut and dried, it is very tricky and there is a certain amount of "educated guessing" and "expert opinion" involved. You can't just examine a handful of coins or old newpapers and see dates like "4717 BC". Do more reading on your own, compare what various archaeologits have concluded and why. One of my professors has been an achaeologist for almost 70 years. He worked on some of the most important digs ever done. I listen to him every chance I get, and I ask him lots of questions. Right on. The date of the flood is probably 650 years earlier than the Masorites changed the old scriptures to read. That would put the flood back to about 3000 BC and Shem was dead over 500 years when Abraham was born.

For example: Terah was 130 years old, when Abraham was born, because Abraham was 75, when he left Haran (Genesis 12:4). Terah died in Haran with 205 years.

Jarrod, what makes you think that it isn't fact? Because you don't agree correct? I don't agree with Evolution through my Understanding of it. And I do have a good enough understanding of it to know it isn't possible. YET, you still think that is fact because those in whom you believe tell you it is.

The story of evolution is highly improbable and no you don't see evolution over a few years. You demonstrate belief in secular scientific theories which still to this day remain unproven, by observations or otherwise.

You seem like a nice enough chap and open to other ideas so perhaps we can discuss. Coming from an agnostic and scientific foundation I have slowly started to come to the conclusion during lengthy research of various subjects that the bible may be somewhat more accurate than previously given credit for, but that's not neccesarily relevant to what your asking, although, if the evolutionary timeline of earth does not fit, then is it more probable that the bible could be right? I would say yes it might well be...

If you look at higher mamal species today what do you see? Thousands of variations of kind across the board, or just a few? How large are they compared to the fossil record, and how well adapted to their environment? What do we see when we study the genetics of these animals, what does this information tell us?...

If you need facts, it will be very difficult for you to come to the Kingdom. It is very hard for me to fathom why anyone would refuse EverLasting Life, because they need this or that fact. What's wrong with you? You cannot see the stars in the day, but you continue to BELIEVE they are there all the same. You see the bright full moon, and 15 days later it disappears for almost 3 nights, but you BELIEVE it is still the same moon, and it will be back. You see the su pass overhead and disappear at dusk, but you BELIEVE that in the morning, it will be back. You already have an unfailing faith and a religion. You cannot see the wind, where it comes from or where it goes; but you can often see where it has been. Your eyes are your religion. You believe what you see. But what you see will one day no longer be seen. Not by you, and not by anyone else, it is all growing old and will need to be renewed. I don't know that; rather, I BELIEVE it, cuz the same guy that said that, also said other things ,that later came true. And that is the sign of a true prophet. That is the only sign that you will get.
