As many of you have noted, I incorrectly and offhandedly referred to Canaan/Israel as Palestine twice in this video. It was a simple, honest mistake. The correct choice would have been Canaan. Well, I'm an atheist and I agree but I don't agree with the chronology. According to the video, Genesis and Noah's ark happen, then Job. Any rational person, including many Biblical scholars will tell you that Job was written before any of the books of the Bible but that doesn't work with their narrative that Genesis and Noah's ark were actual historical events. That kind of thinking is dangerous.
@Bramble4517 жыл бұрын
@Paul TheSkeptic: I think you're looking at this from a different perspective than this video's intent. The purpose of the video isn't to critique or even analyse the OT, but just to present its contents very concisely. i.e. from what it says itself, not from what scholars say about it. It's true that the Bible doesn't actually specify where Job fits in the narrative and so he depends on scholars, but in order to present the OT _as it presents itself_, it's legitimate to analyse it from its own content, which apparently places him after The Flood and before Moses. _When_ it was written doesn't actually matter here. But "somewhere during this time is when scholars believe that the story of Job takes place. Now we aren't exactly sure about the timing..." In 8 minutes, he could hardly go into a critical analysis of why different scholars place Job in different time periods, let alone when the book was written!

@stevenmanwaring89432 жыл бұрын
@@janach1305 I get both but admittedly I am using the word "hate" more colloquial than anything because of course it's not actual "hate" but I would definitely say it crosses the line of a simple disagreement. Often it leads to unfounded and inaccurate insults. The best comparison I could make is when I say something not fully supportive of Biden and I start getting personal insults that indicate that the person went through the trouble of going through my profile or I will get people trashing Trump as an attempt to insult me and vise versa. I will say this though. The athiest communities that I have interacted with are not really at all what I expected. When I became an atheist I became much more open to the possibility of certain view points as valid. After all how can you even really defend your point if you don't have an intimate understanding of the other views, but then again it has become very obvious that I don't have the same thinking patterns as the average person of any group I have encountered.

+Ivor McNamara Hello, I have a few comments I would like to make on this if that is ok. I have been studying Christianity for the past 3 years as an agnostic. I have since found just how correct and accurate the Bible really is with science. 1. The only form of Evolution that has any scientific fact to it is micro evolution (minor feature change), However macro evolution (ape to human) does not have enough data to support its claims. 2. You are correct in that we have evidence of the Big Bang, but think about this if there was a Big Bang, it means there was a beginning of space and time, if that is true, there has to be a causal agent beyond space and time (God). Therefore, the bible described the Big Bang thousands of years ago "In the begging God created the heavens and the earth" 3. You are also correct about humans living on earth around 100,000 years ago. The Bible does not contradict this. I would like to ask how you believe that Adam and Eve are scientifically impossible?

Then there are our modern day scholars, archaeologists, and historians who find the events to be true accounts and the texts to be authentic. It's a mighty bold dogma to claim it all to be fantasy. Especially if you're to suggest darwinistic evolution to be "science" or "fact". You haven't done so yet, but I'm making a wager. The exact "science" that deliberately drops the "theory" part of the name and is proclaimed by confirmed bribed "scientists" and nominal, uncertified experts to be fact so that the masses will follow. Freedom from oppression well... "Jews out of Palestine" is, in my opinion, over generalizing, especially that there were already Jews in Palestine (and the middle East in general by the way) before the occupation . Hating Israel as in the occupying state is one thing (which I understand because of obvious reasons) ...but overgeneralizing to extend it to a whole religion is problematic. Even though the occupation used religion to justify their cruel doings, it's clear that it's a front. The occupying forces actually torture Jews who are against joining their army and things like drinking alcohol and working Saturdays which according to them is against the religion that the occupation claims is the reason why they have the right to do what they do.

Then change the title of the video. There. Problem solved. Cause this video was more like a recap of what DANIEL wrote concerning the invasion of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome. By no means does this even come close to detailing the OT. Not even close! And the 12 sons of Jacob are NOT the 12 Tribes of Israel. Joseph and Levi did NOT get a tribal inheritance. Joseph was already a prince and Levi got the priesthood. They were replaced by Joseph's two sons - Ephraim and Manasseh. So it is 10 sons of Jacob and 2 grandsons of Jacob who make up the "12 Tribes of Israel". Also, Joshua did NOT lead Israel "back" to the Promised Land. They were never there to begin with, so they weren't going "back." Funny. Not even at the 3 minute mark and errors... Nice … for children, or the newest of converts. Certainly not for the spiritually mature. Milk is for milk drinkers. Meat if for those beyond the years of spiritual/Biblical immaturity. Totally amazing that you could do this in 8 minutes and include so many of the essentials. I have only one major correction. The Assyrians did not deport all of the people of the Northern Kingdom (Israel), nor did the Babylonians deport all the people of the Southern Kingdom (Judah). They deported the elite, who were the custodians of the tradition. Those who stayed behind from the Northern Kingdom, capital Samaria, became the Samaritans, who had mixed both physically and religiously with others who came into the area. These became the despised Samaritans of the New Testament era. That is the only point on which you risk generating confusion.

Please don’t take my comments as “criticism”. I’ve been studying the Bible for over a half century and if I were to attempt to do an overview of the Hebrew Bible in 8 minutes, I’d need to spend at least a couple of weeks reviewing what I’ve already learned. Even then, I probably couldn’t do a better job. One of the promises to Abraham was that he would be the father of many nations. (Genesis 17:5) Given that the land between the Gulf of Suez and the Gulf of Aqaba has been called the “Sinai peninsula” for many hundreds of years and that there is a mountain there that has been called “Sinai” for a similarly long time, many people have failed to consider the biblical evidence (Galatians 4:25) that the location of the giving of the law was in Arabia (i.e. between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf). Many people don’t know that there is a mountain there that, as of a few decades ago, was referred to by local Bedouins as “Moses’ Mountain”. (Not critical to understanding the message of the Bible but if the Israelites were camped in Arabia at the time of the giving of the law, it lends credence to the biblical narrative that the Red Sea drowned the Egyptian army. I’ll try to find some related evidence if anyone is interested.) Ruth wasn’t Jewish. At least she wasn't a descendent of Judah. But, given that Israelites were not allowed to marry non-Israelites, Ruth, who was born a Moabites, became an Israelite by the decision she stated in Ruth 1: 176 & 17, “Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, I will die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.” Nickodemus seems to have been acquainted with the doctrine that people who weren’t born from Hebrew lineage had to be born again, as was Ruth, in order to be Israelites. What he hadbn’t considered before his famous night visit with Jesus was that even people who were born of Hebrew lineage needed to be born again in order to be part of true Israel.* One of the things that I failed to understand until after studying the Bible for at least a couple of decades is the “division of the kingdom” after the reign of Solomon. An understanding of the subject as presented in this video could help a lot of people avoid some of the misconceptions that exist today about the use of the words, “Israel” and “Judah”. Many people fail to realize that, “Israel” is the new name the given to Abraham’s grandson, Jacob (Genesis 32) and that the word, “Jew”, is derived from the name of Abraham’s great-grandson, Judah. Thus, for example, Moses was an “Israelite” in the sense of being descended from Israel (Jacob) but was of the tribe of Levi and thus not a “Jew” in the sense of being physically descended from Judah. (I’m not sure that the Babylonian kingdom deported ALL of the Jews from the southern kingdom of Judah to Babylon but maybe that detail isn’t very important.) Ever since about the middle of the twentieth century, most Christians (in the U.S. at least), if they have “studied” Bible prophecy at all have only studied what futurist commentators have written about it. Futurism and the “gap” theory to explain the prophecy of Daniel 8 & 9 was virtually unknown among protestants in the United States before the twentieth century, however. The date, 538 BC mentioned in this video (“from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem”) was important to Bible students before the twentieth century because most of them (in the U.S. at least) used the older historicist method of Bible interpretation as the starting point for the 70 weeks prophecy. It is also worth noting that at least some of the “restoration” prophecies can be understood as having been fulfilled in the days of Zerubbabel Ezra and Nehemiah. One final note about this excellent overview of the Hebrew Bible: For old codgers like myself, I wouldn't have been able to follow this rapid-fire presentation if I wasn't already acquainted with biblical history. *And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: Matthew 8:11 & 12 My kingdom is not of this world. John 18:36 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:13 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Galatians 3:9 And if ye be Christ’s then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

SentByHim, You seem to be responding to the first paragraph of my post. I wonder, however whether you read the rest of my post and, if so, whether you are acquainted with the method of Bible interpretation based on the history and principles that most people don’t understand because they haven’t really even read--much less studied--the earlier parts of the Bible. Either way, have you considered the possibility that the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Israel will be fulfilled to or through the people who are children of Abraham through faith? Hebrews can be part of true Israel by being born again. I hope and pray that as many of them as possible will study their Bibles (their Hebrew Bibles) so they will be able to understand how Jesus fulfilled many of the messianic prophecies at his first advent and, perhaps, also understand that his kingdom is not of this world.

… seeing things with mature eyes, all I see is just how UNLEARNED people who claim to be "Christian" are. This video was more like a recap of what DANIEL wrote concerning the invasion of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome. They were never there to begin with, so they weren't going "back." Nice … for children, or the newest of converts. Certainly not for the spiritually mature. Milk is for milk drinkers. Meat if for those beyond the years of spiritual/Biblical immaturity. @@DonCornelius366 There is much to learn even for the most informed believer. All people are at different levels of their development whether they be Christian or otherwise. This video was not intended to go over every detail but provide an oversight for those that may not have a deep understanding of the chronology. With that said, you are correct about the 12 tribes and the inclusion of Ephraim and Manasseh to make up the remaining two. But you are incorrect about Joshua and the 'returning' back to the promise land. Please remember that during the famine in Joseph's time, they left the land of Canaan before going to Egypt. After many generations of being in Egypt, they eventually returned to Canaan which was then the 'promised land' that was occupied by different peoples at that time.

This was well put together and very helpful. I have never understood the divided kingdom before. Your visuals made it very easy to follow. I didn't know some prophets were from the north and some from the south. When is the N.T. coming? Great job and thanks for putting the time into doing this. The Bible is the story of Yahweh's fulfilled plan of redemption given exclusively to ancient Israelites cursed with the Old Covenant Law of sin and death and pertains to no one alive today. Today's wannabe "christians" have been duped into believing a misappropriated redemptive narrative that appeared soon after AD 70 and it's been a circus of error ever since. Isn't it time to stop pretending to be an ancient Israelite? ~Michael Bradley

Look up these videos called the Bible project it breaks down EVERYTHING from Old Testament and New Testament and it got pictures so u can easily understand it better... it helped me understand that tha Old Testament is basically about how God created the earth an sin came into play and God chose this one nation named Israel to be his FIRSTBORN SON. You’ll notice this nation was a wicked selfish greedy stubborn “kid”... he always broke the rules... ALWAYS!!!! but God still loved this son “Israel”
