I remember in the sixties when BIC pens came to our town. We'd been using Lindy ballpoints, as had the teachers, or the beautiful Carter's stick pens. Problem was, you couldn't see the ink level. I'd say within a year or so, virtually every kid in our school was using a BIC. And I love the 4-color, have used them in medical work for a few decades.

I just purchased one for nostalgia and I needed red ink. I just noticed the clip on the 4 color looks like the clip on the M10. So nostalgic.

What a great memory -- probably the coolest pen I'd ever had back in the 80's... even though they replaced the green (also my favorite color) with purple, I'm going to go out & buy one again. What the heck. I vaguely remember seeing one of those 10-color jobs years ago and might look for one of those too. Was a three-color pen like this ever made...for some reason I think I remember having one at some point (ha)

Classic case of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”...mind you I did find bic’s gelocity Stic (different animal) pretty good. Been on a gel pen binge lately lol

In Brazil the refill is not avaiable. I would loud it with 2 blues, one black and one red.

I prefer the 4 color pens that have green. I also have more use for green then for purple.

Thanks for posting this review of the Bic 4 color ballpoint pen. I don't need purple ink, but use the green ink as much as the red ink. Black is my most used color, and always runs out first. Love the Navy blue barrell, but wish it still had the green ink. Green for GO, green for good, positive things I need to write or annotate (like a positive balance in the ckbook). Red for STOP, or all the negative things that need to be annotated (like withdrawals or negative balances). Black is my main color, which is neutral. Blue seldom ever worked, even new out of the package. Always been my luck with blue ink in these pens, medium point (lt blue barrel), or fine point (orange barrel). But I never was able to return any pens, bcz they were pretty scarce and expensive anywhere I bought them ($4-6), so I had to keep the pen I bought, with the non-writing blue. My score for these are a solid 3.5. It's a high score for a pain-in-the-neck blue ink. But the fine point (orange barrel) is my every day pen, which is a practical workhorse in my jars of pens, pencils, markers, etc.I used to be able to pull a pen color from the pen & replace with another pen color, but haven't been able to pull the ink refills out lately. I know this review is a year old, but thought I'd add my 2¢. Have a great day!

Eventually companies started making cartoonishly huge versions, with 10+ colors, or something equally ridiculous. As a kid, I got one at some amusement park gift shop. It was so fat; like trying to write with a good summer sausage. Ah, memories. Edit: I should've waited until the end, because you talked about this very thing!

Green is also my favorite color!

In the previous 4-color pen, I found that the green ink was the worst writing of all the four colors.
