Al-Fath Now my comment above stated that Hanfee/ Shafee in general, meaning the schools segregated this into multiple types after the ages using the principles of Imam Shafee and Abu Haneefah and once they are broken down further they follow into 5-6 categories respectively. Even Ibn Umar RA said that praying traveeh (20 rakah in congregation) is a Good Bidah. Now someone can say no no, it is a linguistic bidah but one must understand that it is Ibadah even though it was done in congregation at the time of prophet the 20 rakah wasn't there. Another example would be Usman Bin Affan RA doing a second Adan for Jummah and it is still done today. Now the concept of Azan is in sharia doing it twice would be a bidah but a good one as it was needed at the time. We must not take bidah lightly but we must understand that there are nuances here and we must accept the understanding of Sahaba and the Salaf. Jazkallah

And bid'ah in dunya such as using technology is permissable, bid'ah in Religion is forbidden. The practice you have mentioned that happens inthe Masaajid of where you live ask them nicely with wisdom to provide you evidence of what they practice is from the Sunnah or not. If there is no evidence for it then its a bid'ah.

In order for something to be Shirk there must be an EQUATION to Allah SWT and Sufis do not equate the Prophets or the Awliya to Allah SWT. Please, if you think the four great imams are misguided then you need serious revaluation. Just because Ibn Abdul Wahab and Ibn Taymiya introduced a different understanding that doesn't mean you can discard the classical understanding like this.
