I try not to get too political on KZfaq, but for the past couple years, I have feared for not only my future, but for the future of millions of other underrepresented minorities- today (or yesterday, since this will be coming out a day later), we got just a little bit of relief that the rights we already have now are just a little safer now that Trump is gone. Now, I'm not saying that we're in the clear- we still have to fight for our rights and rights of our fellow Americans and still speak up, but now Donald Trump does not represent our country, and we will continue to progress as a nation until we're all equal.
Not only that, but let's all wish Kamala Harris on this historic event! Not only is Kamala the first female Vice President, but she is also the the first Vice President of color, of black descent and South African descent. Kamala- you represent everything I strive for as a woman. You show us that anything and everything is possible, and I'm sure girls (and boys) across the country are looking up to you in reverence and awe. You are truly inspiring.
All of this footage was filmed minutes after Joe Biden was announced as the next president, right outside my home on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, and I couldn't be more proud of my beautiful city. What a breathtaking day! So many tears were shed, but instead of the sad ones we've been crying for so many months, these were tears of relief and happiness. Finally, a little bit of good news in this world of darkness.
