The cost of housing, food, gas and insurance all went up significantly. It may come down by a bit, but the average American is getting less for their dollar. People will ultimately vote economy. If Trump wasn't such a polarizing figure, Biden would lose in a landslide. That said, I'm still voting 3rd party! We need to break up and push the political corporate duopoly.

That's not what happened. They came out of a doorway in the middle of a firefight. Hamas doesn't wear uniforms and doesn't follow any western conventions or rules for warfare (the left gives them a pass).

I like this Stanage fellow. He's careful about what he says, but not in the dithering non-answer way we've come to expect; he's succinct and precise with his language, and never leaves me wondering what he's trying to get at.

When it comes to prices - not only are consumer prices up - notably - rent, and housing prices are up. And vitally, interest rates are also up at the same time, so the cost of borrowing, particularly for financing a house - is up astronomically. That is the big pain point for a lot of people. Not only is it not being addressed, it's been made worse by the Fed raising interest rates to combat higher inflation. Yet prices in the housing market keep going up. An interest rate of even 7% is brutal on a $400-500k house, even for 6 figure households, and local rents aren't much better. The real question for me is why housing prices are so resilient. Cost of building material has gone up and investment activity, particularly cash purchases seem to be driving the market in a painful direction. The amount of single family homes being purchased by large investors for rentals has not helped. I thought Department of Housing and Urban Development was supposed to gear their policies towards first time homebuyers and owner occupancy....they are failing.

@@Tenebris_Sint So not a lawyer? Can you quote one from that multitude that gives control of spending (ie not the overall budget) to the congress and not the executive? For example the Executive will seek funding for infrastructure, the Congress approves the funds but does not micro manage where it is spent although lobbying will occur. A short time ago there was a fuss about Congress members taking credit for federal spending in their districts where they had voted against the budget for that federal spending. Which nevertheless occurred. Another illustration. After some childishness Congress approved a budget for Ukraine. It did not decide which weapons systems to send or not to send. Biden famously declared that some of the most needed systems would be on a plane that day. That action should clearly delineate for you who makes which decision. Mythology was, perhaps, a poor choice of word. My fault for trying to sound fancy. I should have just said "a poor understanding of how government works". Now, get back to trying to develop a quantum theory for gravity where I will admit my undertanding is poor.
