The US and Japan are hailing a new era of strategic cooperation that sends a clear message to China. On Wednesday, US President Joe Biden hosted Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio for a state visit -- a red carpet honor to show Japan's importance to America, with a focus on the Indo-Pacific region. They announced a range of moves to enhance cooperation on economic ties, diplomacy, climate, space exploration, critical technologies like AI, and defense. In fact, 70 agreements on defense cooperation were made including moves to upgrade their military command structures to boost coordination. On Thursday, Biden will host his first-ever leaders' summit between the US, Japan and the Philippines. It's part of Biden's wider strategy to draw allies closer together and offset China's growing might. CNN's Kristie Lu Stout reports.
