Biden says he'll stay in race after disappointing debate performance

4 күн бұрынPresident Biden said at a North Carolina rally that he will stay in the presidential race, despite his poor performance at the first debate with former President Trump in Atlanta. Mr. Biden acknowledged his trouble in the debate, while Mr. Trump took a victory lap at a rally in Virginia. While some Democrats dismissed suggestions that President Biden should step aside after his debate performance, others said the party should consider alternatives. Mr. Biden would have to decide on his own to leave the race. NBC News' Gabe Gutierrez and Peter Alexander report.

Thank goodness that Trump will be in jail on July 11th. What we don't need is another president who puts his own ego ahead of the country's interests. As a Progressive, I reluctantly voted for Biden before, but now I'm wondering if I'm just supporting a pathetic Democratic party that hasn't developed younger talent. I'm 89 and could have done a much better job at that debate than Joe Biden did. We need a strong, authoritative, charismatic candidate, someone like Katy Porter or Doug Inslee. I won't be watching the next debate and probably won't even vote.

Biden has actually accomplished some progressive goals. Given that Congress was just barely in Democratic hands (depending on Manchin and Sinema), it’s actually amazing. Yes, I want more progressive, and younger is certainly fine. Wait and see what happens, but I would definitely vote against Trump at least, unless you are weaker than Biden yourself.

If you aren't aware of it, Google the term "Sundowning" as it relates to dementia and alzheimers. The rally in NC was at noon, the debate was at 9pm. Compare the difference you saw from the Biden in those two time windows to the symptoms of sundowning.
