What gets me is how everyone looks at these numbers. When talking Big XII you use the entire conference and talk about how bad we are either in TV numbers, Fan Attached, or football in general. Then you say the SEC and B1G are leaps ahead but you'll look at OSU, MICHIGAN, GEORGIA, BAMA and use them as rule of thumb for their conference. Take out those 4 teams and you would pretty much have equal viewership with the Big XII when your comparing them to Indiana, Illinois, Arkansas, Tennessee and Vandy.... If we are only going to look at the top 2-3 programs in each conference then I agree, SEC & B1G are better.... But we can't let 5 or 6 teams define college football and I feel like that's what the media wants.
@MarkRogersVOCFB

Not true. The SEC & Big Ten teams get better numbers top to bottom. Secondly, the top tier teams are the ones that drive the revenue, so it would be stupid to take them out of the equation.

@@MarkRogersVOCFB not saying to take them out of the equation..... Just more numbers count than the top teams. So look at Arkansas but don't count games against Georgia or BAMA.... Count Illinois but not numbers against OSU or Michigan etc.... Then you will see, top to bottom, roughly the same.....

@@joeyfosterWVU Big 12 numbers will get a bump next year with Texas & Oklahoma leaving as they almost always took the spots on ABC/ESPN/FOX. For example, Kansas/Kansas St drew 869K on FS1. If that game is on ABC/FOX/ESPN this coming year, it’ll break 1M easily. But that is also what happens with the B1G teams outside of Ohio St/Michigan. Those 2 are always the FOX/CBS/NBC games. The best way to compare is when the lesser B1G & Big 12 teams play each other on the OTA’s. Same for SEC & ACC

UH football's first full season in the Big 12 faced direct/indirect competition from the Astros and Texans for viewership. The baseball team was in the midst of another playoff run to repeat as World Series Championships, while the Texans, with their rookie QB CJ Strout and head coach DeMeco Ryans, attracted much local and national attention. Texas and Texas A&M, with alums and campuses in Houston, definitely impacted the cougar's ability to move the needle. The UH-Texas game, for example, achieved respectable viewership and attendance due to these factors. If Houston puts a better product on the field and rises to be at the middle of the pack or the top of the Big 12, local support and TV viewership will come. According to the sports media reports, the Jamal Shead-led UH basketball team attracts large home crowds and has reasonable viewership rates. It is nationally ranked and sits atop the Big 12. Hence, this is the playbook for the UH football in 2025.

When WVU v PSU attracted a viewership of 3.5 million fans, the game was televised on NBC network TV. Likewise, a couple weeks later, when WVU v Pitt had a viewership of 2.5+ million fans, the game was televised on network TV. On the other hand, when WVU played some Big XII games that were only streamed on ESPN+ for pay, the viewership substantially decreased. Games on network TV or regular cable such as ESPN or FOX cannot be compared to games that are only streamed for pay. The Big XII must consider investing in a channel and the same type of cable broadcasting available to the BIG, SEC and ACC fans.

A fun thought experiment; membership status in elite exposure and a recruitment tool to attract well-rounded students. Have I excluded any worthy prospective members?

I’d be curious if you were to breakdown the channels the big 12 games are played on vs other conferences. Because the big 12 teams that remain rarely get placed on ABC and Fox. When you are comparing numbers for games played on ESPN2 and FS1 vs numbers for other conferences played on the primary channel it is obvious why the ratings are lower. Your analysis is lacking at best, I’d call it misleading.

The TV Ratings are an indicator of consumer demand. Basically, consumer demand forThe Big Twelve Football Games is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY LOW compared to BOTH The SEC AND BIG TEN!! That's WHY The Big Twelve DOES NOT COMMAND A Lucrative Television Contract. If The Big Twelve wants to have more TV revenue, It WILL NEED to have an increase in fan attendance and TV viewership. Otherwise, it's POINTLESS for the broadcasting companies to invest their resources in televising the games BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!

No they are not. The ratings are what they are. The games ACC have that are not counted because on ACCN and then the Spectrum fiasco suppresses their media numbers but not Big12. I have tried to tell all the Big12 bigots and hypocrites about the reality of the situation, and the fact they conjure up their own narrative about ratings and such these past few years and not keeping it legitimate shows how much they are wrong and not as viewed and valued as they claim. The AAC and SBC have more leverage and legitimacy in media coverage suppression than the Big12.
@eujr4SC

But it wasn't really discussed. The Big12 renewed its previous contract. They most likely will be taking over the PAC-12's "After Dark" timeslot going forward outside of maybe a few B1G games that happen on the west coast. Fox isn't putting Oklahoma State vs WVU on Big Noon on 10/5 when they have UCLA-Penn State, USC-Minnesota, and Ohio State-Iowa to choose from. ESPN isn't putting them on ABC or maybe not even ESPN that week when there's Auburn-Georgia, or Tennessee-Arkansas. Florida plays UCF that weekend so maybe they'll get on ESPN.

The numbers are the numbers. Last year TCU had great numbers, this year they dropped off, like their team. As far as the other conferences, they have blue blood programs that carry everyone else and if any B12 team was in their conference they would have similar if not better numbers. The B12 has a number of good programs but no great powerhouses. Everyone knows that and that is why the SEC and B10 are compensated the way they are and the B12 is compensated the way they are. I think eventually the 40-50 best programs are going to break away in football and do their own thing. 2:50 Tech brought in 1.43 against Wyoming. That was all us, so how do you figure Oregon brought all of the views the next game? Doesn’t add up bro.

Outside of the “Deion Traveling Clown Show”…no one cares about watching BIG XII football anymore. Anyone arguing the BIG XII is the 3rd best conference is football ignorant. The ACC is far and away better at the top and that’s what matters. If you made every ACC and BIG XII program available Miami/FSU/Clemson would be the first 3 taken in some order.

Other way around actually. The big 12 is so much deeper and more interesting to watch than Clemson or fsu dominating the acc

a) Ignoring ND, UNC/UVA are the top targets for both the SEC and B1G due to relative value. CLEMSON, etc. would be the top targets of the BIG12. b) Agreed, the current/new ACC is far better than the new BIG12 on any material factor.

@@jonathanwrehe8015 ND has a binding scheduling agreement and a "must join" if agreement on top of the exit fees/GOR for non-football. The point of your reply?

except the Big 12 conference championships without Texas or OU always double the ACC championship game even with Clemson. But umm okay sure lol, you would know this is you werent a Miami fan and knew what a conference championship setting looked like. Ok State vs Baylor in 2021 - 8 million viewers, Pitt vs Wake - 2.6 million viewers 💀even the AAC championship game Cincinnati vs Houston (two now Big 12 teams) - 3.4 million viewers, outdrew the ACC. and again in 2022 without Texas or Oklahoma, K-State vs TCU - 9.4 million viewers outdrew the ACC again Clemson vs UNC - 3.4 million viewers and thats with one of your top brands playing. But sure lets all pretend like the cfb world is lining up to watch Syracuse, Wake Forest, Boston College, Virginia, Georgia Tech and NC State do whatever it is they do lol, and again no one has to worry about Miami's brand because all they have been is a hypothetical what if since joining that conference.
