The Walnut hands down. The best guitar I've ever owned. That warm bottom end tone is brilliant. I picked it over comparable Martins.

The BBTe sounds fantastic to me. Rich, warm with good volume. and the fact that Taylor isn't pulling the back and sides wood out of a tropical forest is a huge plus.

Totally impressed with the walnut as a top wood! Wow! Who knew? One of my lutherie teachers (Mike McConnville) was an early adopter of walnut as a guitar wood, way back in the 90’s, but he used it for back and sides and fret boards. My primary instructor, Sergei de Jonge, was not into walnut, at all! as late as 2012, he did not use/stock walnut. I LOVE the appearance of walnut as a wood! Most of my fav furniture pieces are walnut. Peace

Just bought the walnut model, it’s awesome warm smooth sound the body resonates beautifully, I own expensive guitars but this model is so playable everyone should try one.

I was surprised at how good walnut is for strumming. To my ear it sounds slightly darker, warmer and more compressed than the spruce.

I have the Big Baby Spruce but I am definitely getting the walnut version as soon as possible!!!! I wish they had that edition available when I bought the BBT!!!!!!

I have both and really love them. Walnut sounds more warm than Spruce.

I think big baby Taylor guitars sound as good as very expensive guitars. They just sound great, especially for finger picking. They're real barebones but that's kind of cool too.

The Spruce has more sparkle while the Walnut has more character. I think if you already own a Martin the good balance would be the spruce Taylor

Are the strings too tight? I have a problem with my hands, I can't play nervous guitars. How does it compare to average guitars?

Spruce would be my choice; it sounds better even though the walnut is prettier. The spruce has walnut sides and back with a maple neck.
