Had one in the early 70’s. A sport coup with a bucket seat and console interior. Blue with a white vinyl top. It was only a 318 and automatic but it was a nice looking and driving car in the high school days. I liked driving it.

My brother had a ratty 65 Coronet 500 back in the 90's it was originally a 273 car that was replaced with a 78 318. After he was discharged from the Navy, we found and built a 73 340 with cam, headers, etc. The car was an absolute screamer, never did get a chance to time it at the strip but with a stopwatch and measured out 1/4 mile it was approx 13 secs and that was with 3.23 open rear.

One way to reduce bugs in your paint booth--put a yellow bug light next to the exhaust fan. It attracts the bugs in time to get sucked out by the fan--or zapped. As for found mice...see if you know someone with a pet snake. I know, cruel, right?

Hi- Didnt see any Moly cam lube on that cam. If its a new cam, its necessary or the cam may be wiped out especially if its allowed to idle during break in. Some manufacturers apply a coating on the cam to HELP protect it, some dont. The Moly paste still gives that extra insurance as metal filings are not needed in a fresh engine, and no one wants to take apart a fresh engine to replace a cam and deal with metal filings. Theres a procedure to get the RPMS up for the first starting so all new surfaces mate. A good idea on a used cam too especially if new lifters. Putting oil on the cam will dilute the thick Moly cam paste also. There is a liquid moly lube thats thinner too, but the paste sticks the best. The liquid can be added for overall wear protection, but not directly on a new cam, thats what the paste is for. All cam manufacturers sell the lube and have break in procedures as to rpm, and time to run it at that rpm, and to have spark and gas right upon initial startup to prevent excessive initial cranking. If its a used cam, hopefully its the right specs for the purpose of use and power range desired. Most buy cams that are just too radical for smooth driving. A cam is the heart of the engine really and controls where the power rage is. . If a used cam, its more risk as lobes must be measured and analyized for past wear. Used cams also may not last as long as a new cam if thats a concern. Hope things work out.

Some of these shots are for viewing only, and not the actual installation. I can assure you these guys know how to put an engine together, and do it right. I went back and reviewed that sequence, and I see the reason for your comment. But, as I said, these guys are not new.

1965 B-body MoPars are such a unique model year. Parts for a 65 only fit a 65. makes it really hard to find body parts, (Iv'e restored two of them) We have a mint 65 Coronet hood in the back of my shop that I dont have the heart to throw away. Anyhow here is my 66 in a music video. Enjoy>>>> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nJ2VqNSB2629qHU.html

To reset the pan bolt holes i would take a ball peen hammer and center the ball in the hole then tape the hammer face with a brass hammer. With a clean, smooth ball it would dimple the hole perfectly.

You know, I bet Jeff Bezos could do ANY of this work. Local shops could offer A TON of useful info for the average guy who’s doing a build like this. I’m in the process of getting my Dad’s 1940 Ford truck running. I’d LOVE to see you guys shouting out to the local Speed Shops during a build like this instead of Jeff Bezos (Amazon) who couldn’t care less about a classic build like this. MotorTrend let’s do better and keep those local shops thriving.

No amazon doesn't have everything, it doesn't have rear leaf spring mounts for a 2000 escalade, the ones that do come up specifically say in the fine print not for 2000 escalades, quite annoying,.

Not sure that 440 is gonna get the mpg's like the owner wanted. The newer hurricane inline Chrysler 6 cylinder would've been awesome to see go into this car.

I would have chemically stripped the lead based paint on the Coronet. Sanding / sandblasting should be avoided because of all the toxic dust that is spread everywhere. Obviously they were wearing dust masks but that's not enough.
