I don't think the guy with the sock on his head is necessarily super studied in game theory etc. I will say that I have played with quite a few guys who just have an intuitive understanding of the game. He may not be the best dressed or most well spoken in the room but I have little doubt that he would take all of your money just by you underestimating him.

I’m really surprised Antonius didn’t sniff out that bluff. Garrett is almost never shoving that river with just an overpair. And I don’t think he’s 3-betting preflop or barreling the turn and river with 7s. His line simply did not make sense. Maybe Antonius gave him the benefit of the doubt because Garrett’s been out of the game for so long and Antonius didn’t think he would be capable of running this massive of a bluff 3-ways?? 🤔

I honestly feel the same I thought Patrick would call that. I think the hand being 3 way to the turn helped his cause but I’m also confused on what he is representing here. A river blank would have been much more believable IMO

Gman 3bet range is very polarized and has the whole board coverage, he can ezly have 77 , a7s, 78s, 79s, 67s, and he would also shove for value with any sets, since Antonius range is pretty weak does not contain 7x very often
@23THoff
@23THoff 5 ай бұрын
Patrick blocks 78h and 79h of hearts. And I'm not sure but it seemed Curtis likely gave away his discontent with the river card, which could count as a hypothetical blocker. Plus the line from Garrett doesn't make sense. Would he even value bet a set here? Patrick has the range advantage by far and can have way more 7s here, so why value bet overpairs or sets that are unblocked? You block the other value hands. This is a call. Maybe in the end it was the fact that Antonius knows he has range advantage, which should be obvious to Garrett, yet he still jams on him, that made him think it can't be a bluff. I think most competent players see this as a slam dunk call off.

I think Garrett’s repping a huge over pair anyway…these are high level players Garrett is good enough to pretend to be going for extremely thin value even on this board..trying to get an 8 to call him saying he has QQ+. If I or you shove on this river we’re gonna have a bluff or a seven but Garrett is world class and can have overpairs…we would all check back with over pairs but not Garrett. I thought the same. Nothing makes sense here to be in Garrett's hand given the action. I kinda thought Antonius would call. Maybe I'm thinking smaller stakes and much less BBs effective, but I just can't see JJ-AA betting all three streets even jamming river in this spot. Feels like a white flag missed hearts play that he just refused to give up on, knowing board smashes PA range and whiffs GA range...

@@brennanpizer5004 Garrett had an Ace in his hand. He could have easily had AA, and he played it as such. Also, he knows he's on TV, and he knows the TV audience wants action. This is not a regular game, it's a TV game, which is different. If everyone was a nit, no one would like that.

I don't understand what Garret is representing there. He has no 77 in these sequence (in fact, te guy who folded could have 77). Pairs above 8 don't want to go all-in there. Patrik has an 8 which blocks many 7s... I guess Patrick thought that Garret is able to make massive value bets to get calls from pairs like 8s, 9s... while he is representing AA or KK. Against a random guy, Patrik should have insta call that hand.

Garrett is a good player, but in the Jack 4 hand, and his reaction afterwards, he was acting immature. His ego could not handle getting beat by an amateur. He could not understand the simple truth that amateurs sometimes make goofy plays. He does not understand that there was no hard evidence of cheating. He is stubborn, had his mind made up, and he is not willing to internalize empirical evidence, or the lack thereof. He is trying to apply pro poker concepts onto an amateur who did not belong in that game. She was like a 6 year old trying to drive in a NASCAR event. Of course something could go wrong. In her case, she got lucky and won, and Garrett could not handle it. Garrett should apologize and give the money back.
