most if not all the fans of this show want a range of ages a range of people a range of normal people and this is what i want i really hate the fact itv2 has it cause im scared of the fact that itv might make it love island 2

I don’t mind it coming back as long as they keep influencers away from the show because i don’t want this becoming kind of like a love island show, so i hope they just keep it back to basics. i also feel like the show is iconic to many people with the nostalgia of the show and the theme tune, so i can completely understand why Itv2 wants to bring it back now

I just kind of think these type of shows are unethical to be blunt and at the risk of sounding extremely dark here, They are playing a game of Russian roulette with the participants in these shows in the same way The Jeremy Kyle show did. Big Brother in the channel 4 era would defend criticism of how housemates were treated by saying they were vetted by a mental health team, but looking back, disliked housemates would hear live crowds chanting for them to be voted out. That had to do a number on your self-esteem, self image and mental health. Just because someone enters the Big Brother house mentally fine doesn't mean they exit it that way Here's another point regarding mental health, who in 2023 who is "sound of mind" would apply for Big Brother? Our understanding of mental health has improved soo much in the last few years and I just don't think a channel airing Big Brother could defend it the way it could in the 2000s. That's my take on this though.

I’m quite happy it’s coming back and I think ITV’s strategy so far sounds promising. Far better than what we got on Channel 5. Channel 5 have made it clear they aren’t interested in the format but ITV snatching it up at this point was clearly a ploy to keep it off Channel 4. If you watched the final series on Channel 5 production were clearly setting the show up for the future. With Channel 4’s privatization looming I think there was a good chance they’d pick it up again.

I’m quite happy to see it come back and interested in how ITV approach it. BB was at its peak when I was in my 20s so It’s like a bit of my youth coming back, that title music was the soundtrack to my summer from 2000 to 2010.

Yey Gods...just when you thought it was somewhat safe to watch ITV2 again. Getting REALLY fed up of repeats, repeats of repeats, re-hashed programmes and the same old same old programmes coming back every month. Sadly lacking in imagination these days. It is not wonder I don't bother.

I'm not baffled by this news at all. I says this as someone who eye rolled at the news. Love Island was the most watched show in the country for the last couple of months outside of the Euros (I didn't believe that either until I looked it up!). Big Brother is more or less the same show but without the travel logistics. It's a good bang-for-your-buck show in the eyes of producers (Expensive to set up and then you just run that initial set-up 24/7 for two months with all the money on screen). The format is experiencing a second-wave revivial internationally as the original audience grows up and a new generation find it for the first time (Remember Love Island itself was an early 00s show and we are currently experiencing a more successful revival). Also ITV has fought off the streamers by absolutely filling their schedules with live or event TV (fulled by interactive social media). As for Big Brother controversies, Love Island (and randomly other ITV shows like Good Morning Britain) have cornered the "most complained about" market in recent years, I feel like Big Brother is a nothingness in their eyes, haha! So yeah, may sound weird to us oldies (and people like me that loved BB initially but got over it), but from a TV point of view I'm not surprised at all. ITV has the audience and budget to make it a success that public broadcaster Channel 4 and "I only have £5 budget" Channel 5 ever could. If anything I wouldn't be surprised if ITV wanted it after Channel 5 but needed a few cooling off years to give them the chance for a fresh reboot to new adults who aren't familiar with the BB brand.

I'm excited Big Brother ITV2 Next year 2023. But Big Brother stared on 14th July 2000 on Channel 4 and E4. Big Brother will continue to air on Channel 4 and E4, right up until 10th September 2010. Until Channel 5 secure the rights to air the show. Ather Channel 4 and E4 aired Series 11, their claim to the rights expired. And in mid-2011 Big Brother stared on Channel 5 until November 2018.

FIRST First aside, I'm very iffy about its return. In a way it's something for people to watch and talk about, and I know fans from abroad who are fans of the overall franchise will be tuning in, but are we not introducing another platform to, for a lack of better words, bully people for not fitting into the ideal box that they may not necessarily fit into because they're too 'ordinary'?

Personally I have no real issue with it returning, if it attracts a younger audience and brings more money for other shows in I’m happy enough. I personally think there are better formats, but I do get ITV’s call.

I’ve been watching BB AUS and Canada and I love that they have competitions. I don’t want to watch a bunch of people sitting around the house all day, BBUK! Then I might as well Celebrity BB because they also do nothing all day. I hope BBUK 2023 has competitions going forward.

if you arent happy its coming back, dont watch it... but we all know you will watch every episode multiple times like you watch old seasons over and over. Also, the use of Caroline Flack's image on this video to attract "clicks" is shameful.

Personally, I think you should look at the Australian adaptation. It started on our equivalent of channel 5, network 10. They had it until 2007 or so, having ran since 2001. Nine (our version of post-2004 itv) revived it for 2 years in the mid-2010’s. and now channel 7(our equivalent of channel 4) has had it for 3 years. Barely anybody watches it. They just pick it up for the previous success and then it flops on the ground and they pass it around like a hot potato.

Big brother was only really good for 3 years then the show tired and attracted the wrong crowds. It was suffering from entropy when it was on channel 4.

The WORST TV show of all time, that did more harm to British society than any amount of video nasty's. It bread a generation of shallow, unctuous untalented narcissists who are only interested in superficial fame without hard work or talent. Rylan Clark is a perfect example of that.

Just like I never understood why the networks here in Australia keep resurrecting the local version of it here.

As long as the producers don't interfere with the show to add more "conflict", I don't see a major catastrophe if Big Brother is brought back. I am not a fan of it being on ITV2 though, not a fan at all. It's all fine and dandy if it goes back to a social experiment format like in series one. The only time I experienced Big Brother was a repeat showing in the afternoon, on Channel 5, in 2018, when the show probably ended at the time. Soooooo yeah.

Now I have to say, I am quite looking forward to Big Brother coming back. It was and still is a reality TV show I've watched more of over the years. I'll be interested to see whether they stick to their statement in bringing in a diverse group of people, but we'll see.

I wasn't into Big Brother when I was younger, but I did watch a bit of it - my older brother was into it and even had some of the series on DVD. I didn't "get it" so to speak. I'd watch it, but I was like "why would you want to watch a load of randomers in a house?" When Channel 4 had it, it was good. People from all walks of life living in a house together. The contestants were all completely different with bold and unique personalities. It was golden. Channel 5 took it and it became like Love Island - plastic wannabes who all look like rejected TOWIE stars. I hope ITV can take it back to the glory days, though I doubt it. I might watch the launch just to see what the contestants are like. If they have that TOWIE/Love Island look about them, I'm turning it off and writing a complaint to Ofcom.

Ah my favourite TV show I love this show from channel 4 in 2009 when it a celebrity big brother till channel 5 2018 but In 2015-18 I nearly lost my love to it but as it now in ITV 2 now I will give it a chance and see how it will work in their hands?.

It needs to go back to its original routes and its peak which was bb7. What's ruined big brother is celebrities. Jade goody, roxanna palette, and many others. Rules need to be more strict. They even kicked Andrew tate off for not being allowed to defend himself If something was to get out of hand. Which as a human you are allowed self defence is someone attacks you. Taking even that away because the producers don't want a casualty is beyond me.

Hate BB it's a big reason why TV just geting worse and worse because theyd rather make shows ;like BB over a show with any real effort or lastabilty put into them. Channel 4 got rid of so many of what made them unique to the channel shows for this trash.

The series was much longer before that was part of the challenge of the show on channel 4. Enjoyed it a bit as a teen but it shouldn’t be a thing anymore.

I’m a new subscriber to your channel and I’m very very surprised that somebody of your age (probably not too dissimilar to mine) could hate Big Brother so much. Yes, there were years when it was boring, but I find it hard to believe you don’t feel ANY nostalgia for it, growing up at a similar time of life. In more recent years I ended up preferring the Celebrity version. If you would go back to clips on KZfaq of Kim Woodburn, Katie Hopkins, Gemma Collins, Tiffany Pollard - I think you would semi-die with laughter! I’d hope ITV2 would do a good job of its return but the crazy woke-ness of ITV these days probably means it won’t do a good job. For instance, in Love Island they rarely show what the contestants get up to when they’ve had a few drinks, we don’t see them smoke or swear. Bad traits of real life, yes - but real life all the same. I hope much of the real Big Brother remains intact, but I sincerely doubt it.

Big Brother seems like a relatively cheap show to produce and can fill a large chunk of slots in the TV schedules. It was obvious that some broadcaster somewhere would bring it back for those 2 reasons alone.

I mean I have to admit it myself, even over here in America there's a lot of reality shows here too, almost to the point of oversaturation. putting aside the singing/music reality shows, we were almost gonna have Million Dollar Island USA on NBC before that got cancelled along with the UK version, we have The Bachelor and The Bachelorette(s) on ABC as well as Claim to Fame, FOX got Joe Millionaire back and still have Hell's Kitchen and MasterChef, and CBS has Survivor and Big Brother USA, they had Love Island USA before it moved to Peacock (NBC's streaming service), and, believe it or not, almost aired an activism reality show last year. Just imagine, on top of all of that, Duck Dynasty (Or Solitary, take your pick) came back on one of the big 4 networks here in the US. That is my best analogy to the Big Brother UK revival news.

Big Brother is being revived because it's a cheap way to fill airtime, and it has brand recognition.

I watched the first 5 or 6 seasons but as it went on it was obvious they were pairing people they knew would clash and doing tasks that would set them off. It was boring to watch by that point.

I don't really like big brother that much i can't stand the contestants arguing if a contestant is not happy with another contestant they should not get angry with them or start arguing with them they should just get on with them when they are in the big brother house and when it is their time to come out of the big brother house they don't have to talk to them or have anything to do with them ever again when they are in the big brother house if a contestant is not happy with another contestant they should be the bigger person and get on with them until it is their time to come out of the big brother house.

Not being a fan of the Edemol now known as Banjay format anymore after seeing that the real Viacom format is more of a kinda fresh feeling game and this format is more of an old Dinosaur waiting to get extinct for a 3rd time which just refused to die. Can't say I am excited for it unlike the last revival which ended up being a failure although I was kinda excited that time around the format just had it's day already let it rest in piece with the memories and maybe air Bigg Boss on Channel 5 instead of Colors TV in the UK with auto as it's your English channel not manual subtitles on it. I would have liked some new adult animation or movie blockbusters it's good content that makes it not a waste of a slot on ITV 2 instead of Big Brother UK with a dinosaur format when we won't adopt the better real gameshow format. I don't like reality in general unless it's documentary that is my reality tv fix but the originals though were guilty pleasures and still are except spinoffs like Love Island but this one will it be a guilty again or would I get bored quick again because of the Dinosaur format too early to say if it changes its format it might get me back onto it as an original but modern reality tv isn't my bag. In other words I'm on the fence I liked Bigg Boss the first series I seen a full one recently but it's not the same show as the retired old dinosaur making a comeback it makes the show watchable again the new format that has which I'd never seen before from the dinosaur. But then loving my first Bigg Boss would I get bored and hate it the second year not being a reality show fan but a gameshow fan and it being a true hybrid gameshow reality unlike the UK format which lately has looked reality only to me can it keep my interest for a second year it was fresh air the first time like I was watching an old friend of a better last year of the 90s original but would the second time be old immediately thats the question.

Yes they rebooted Big Brother in Aust last year on the 7 network and wasn't a rating success. People just got tired of the same crap. This years well deserved winner was a visual impaired girl. Reggie who was a previous contested in BB in the 2000s. You just wonder how much of the show and contestants is a publicity stunt by the producers and the networks.

ITV in recent years has been trying hard to become a serious broadcaster once again. Unfortunately, dumbass decisions such as these undermine such attempts. Regardless, you can see why I would prefer to see ITV be folded into the BBC itself.

I'm not a fan of Big Brother. I didn't watch it then and I probably won't watch it now (nor any reality tv for that matter). But even I must admit there is still just a LOT of just plain snobbery when it comes to Big Brother and reality tv in general. If people have genuine critique, great, but from what I've seen from the 00s with Big Brother to now with Love Island, the majority is just pure rolling eyes, holding nose "oh you watch that rubbish?" smugness. Based on viewing figures for Love Island this week (3.4m and ITV Hub record) there is still massive appetite for this type of programming. It makes sense from a broadcasters perspective why they would look to try bringing it back. As I say, I won't be watching, but all power to those who will. Hope they enjoy it.

The most annoying thing about the show at its peak is that it seemed to be all that anyone wanted to talk about. (Oh well, made a change from talking about bloody football). I doubt that it will be so culturally dominant this time around.

As much as I hate reality tv as it's all ripoffs and nothing does it differently Love Island a bad version of Celebrity Love Island, Celebrity Big Brother is just Bigg Boss and I'm A Celebrity and a million programmes being a bad version of Pop Idol I think there is room for the one that started it all if the ripoffs are still going at least Big Brother was a Game Show until it became too reality. Even The Run or whatever they called it on Channel 4 with the CCTV was a bit Interceptor gameshow to me but Interceptor was a character with characterization put towards him. I'm a bit mixed vibes though Channel 5 although it's the home of Bigg Boss on Colors TV didn't bring it's own Viacom format which is so much better on it's Bigg Bro version at all they just relayed Banjay/Edemol's format and showed a broadcast of their version instead of bringing their version to the UK screen. Bigg Boss Viacom's own format for Big Brother UK for example if they were allowed to see it for the UK rather than being a relay channel for a produced by Banjay alone with no input show allows the housemates to discuss nominations bringing extra impact into the game. There are more game show elements like pick your poison 1 on 1 head to heads making battle royals of 8 for eviction and more round circle versions with 2 elimination cutoffs by the end than the UK as they got rid of the fixed phone line rigging votes. There are social media rounds decided by we the people and mini gameshows where housemates themselves can win prizes like a holiday or a bit of work on a show where a producer needs talent. They have a smoking room where if they smoke in the house or outside they get banned from smoking for good as a punishment until allowed again again more dynamics for smokers in there if they get the ban. Bit on the Side is in the show and the housemates take part and if family members are in it on a given day they stir the pot in the game for the housemates they don't favor especially if fake gameshow relationships happen they get a grilling and a scolding by the public themselves. They have a Bigg Boss worship anthem they have to sing every morning which they get round up by eventually and get punished for not taking part in worshiping the idol eye again more dynamics and more games. One bad thing about their format is it's celebray only but I want Channel 5's own format rather than another Relay but with everyday people having it all might make me excited for it but if it's the same old not evolving with current versions which are now tried and tested in their own rights but better it might end up being more Big Bother. They get punished for any violence triggers any provoking and even speaking English because many are English only speakers at home even though they speak Hindi and meaant to speak it in the show although we get the English subs so it's English for us who can read. Now I really you do it Adam in a kinda sinister punishment way to see how you last in it but I have a feeling they won't be using the actual format that could make it fresh again in modern times if they did use it which probably makes it a bit of a waste returning. What's worse is Abdol Rosek left the better Viacom own input rules show that the Indian version of Banjay allowed them to do to take part in this one which probably is going to be the same old crap UK format. By the end of Channel 5 I felt a bit bored with the UK format so thought it left at the right time I gave the Indian format a chance now it allowed manual subtitles on and it really was so much better. I think if this was to go head to head with the Boss I'm going to give this a pass if it's full on reality season again in Autumn for TV with reality on every channel as the only new shows on to watch as usual to try and force you into one if they go head to head with Boss I'm probably going to watch catch up of decent shows or Boss not the Brother or any of the worse reality shows than both thats on head to head. I hope it's not reality season again but I have a feeling it will be.

Well I don't trust ITV2 with it for the reasons you outlined relating to Love Island. Particularly given the cause of death of the former LI contestants. ITV2 just doesn't take contestant aftercare seriously enough for it's reality shows. But ethical concerns aside, it has me completely scratching my head over why - Weirdly, the C5 run of the show makes me more confused over the audience for it - Had it gone away completely for 12 years? Maybe. But it went from C4 to C5 and then ran for 8 years on C5 meaning it doesn't feel like there's been enough time for anyone to really start missing it to me.
