Awesome Time fishing the second part of the Tongariro rafting with rafting New Zealand.
Jessie managed a big PB brown trout and heaps more rainbow trout caught on dry flies.
Epic day with the fly rods, can't wait to do it again.

Love your videos dude. Keep them coming. I'm from the states but would love to come to nz to fish someday. On the bucket list for sure. Started trout fishing about 8 yrs ago in Missouri. Great small spring fed rivers. Most are stocked trout, but some reproduce naturally. If you ever find yourself here, hit us up.

Hey man, I’m visiting the South Islands next week and I’ve got barely any knowledge regarding trout/freshwater fishing. I’ve only got spin tackle on me and I’ve got tons of soft body lures but I’m not entirely sure they’ll be fit for the lakes I’ll visit. Could you give me a heads up on what’s gonna give me a glimpse of a fish in New Zealand on spin tackle?.
@edanannand

Head to the canals near Twizel, most people spin there. He's got a few videos from there too.
@DropeCL
@DropeCL 4 жыл бұрын
Greetings from Chile, nice video as always, do you spinning fishing or just fly-fishing (I'm new to the channel and for the moment only do spinning for that reason is the question)
@thor_6886
@thor_6886 4 жыл бұрын
Almost always fly fishing, mate. In most of the rivers flowing into Lake Taupo where Gareth is based (including the Tongariro which is where this was filmed) you are only allowed to fly fish. But in most of the back country rivers where he fishes in summer, and the canals at Twizel which are in some of his vids, you also can use spinning gear.

Didn't catch what caused the pumice in water?
@dasmopped
@dasmopped 4 жыл бұрын
A slip, so I guess he means a landslide. So soil and rocks/pumice
@thor_6886
@thor_6886 4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the authorities let backlogs of pumice etc go from the dam where they launched the boats in vid 1. But as dasmopped says, Gareth speculated about a landslide. That river flows through an area that in ancient times was one of the biggest volcanic eruptions in Earth's history. There are huge layers of volcanic pumice etc in the soil.
