In todays video, we get the shed cleared out ready for the batch of bulls on the home patch of grass to come inside for the winter. Clearing out fertiliser spreaders, timber, potato grader, bales, maize head.... Then bringing the bulls home for their big weigh in. We see how the Belgian blue compares to the friesians.

Really sorry Dolly's not well, hope she recovers. That was the quietest batch of bulls normally they get over excited but they were proper chilled out in the yard.

Great to see them bedded on straw, wonder will they thrive any better than the batch on slats

Commonly do worse on bedding than slats as they eat the straw.

@@philipcullen2842 it kinda depends on the way you feed them, we find they do much better on a straw bed as they’re always way cleaner and free from disease

Poor Dolly, it's called a Lodge when they eat too meal with us up in Fermanagh. Good dose of molasses will read her out. Enjoy the videos.

Felt like only a few weeks ago they went out, would ye find some of them going back a bit after going into the shed? I know you gave the lads hay for those in the slats. Wonder do ye see it in the kg per day ratios

As long as the bigger boys don't "bully" (pardon the pun) the Belgian blue will trive on the meal and feed inside in the shed. I think he may surprise you yet Phil 👍

I think that's the thing with Belgian blue cattle is that they need lots of extra man-made feed(protein) ontop of just grass to make them grow to thier full potential

we keep bulls for their better grading and better fcr, we buy them all as calves
