Big Cod Fishing

The final day of the March 2024 trip resulted in the best fish for me of the week! I put together what I had learned over the week to land a beautiful Norwegian cod. There were also millions of coalfish swimming in front of us, being landed on shads.
Baits used were herring, ragworm and coalfish. I used up and over running rigs and pulley pennel rigs. Both styles of rigs had large j hooks and circle hooks to help catch the fish. Shore fishing from Norway is awesome!

Lovely coalfish, catch them up North East coast , local name is billet ; get them to about 2lbs ; well done 👍👍👍

Hi Gem you werent fibbing when you said day 4 and 6 were excellent days. Your face whilst holding that big Cod up for the camera was awesome. Pure joy. I am heading back down south next week for some sea fishing around the Padstow area. What species should I be condsidering targeting going into April? Plaice, flounder? Looking at getting some of Waynes new rigs too they look awesome with all the bling on. Hopefully they attract the fish as much as me lol. All the best Gem

Yeah defo check out Wayne’s rigs. They won’t let you down. I haven’t fished Padstow myself but here in sussex my main focus in April would be plaice for sure. Good luck!
