They do get punished. These specific refs are very highly regarded and have judged WC final, EU final, UCL final. Everything. After a mistake like that it's highly likely it will be a while before that happens again. If that is not punishment then I don't know what is. Everyone makes mistakes, even refs, even Neuer.

There was no corruption, just a complete miscall. Humans make mistakes and the linesman admitted this already. Had the Ref not blown the whistle (which sealed the deal of said mistake) the play would have been reviewed and the goal would have been awarded no problem. It is crappy either which way as you never want a game to be won or lost based on calls from the officials, accurate or inaccurate in my opinion.

Was there a referee mistake at the end? Yes. Would it have made a difference? 1. Probably not, since the Real Madrid players stopped playing after hearing the whistle, the main reason why DeLight even scored because no one was moving. 2. Even if Bayern scored and it was 2-2, the match would go into extra time with 0 strikers and 5 defenders Bayern had close to 0 chances of winning. Dunno why they are so upset, they played horrible and scored a lucky goal.. Real dominated the game and they should be ashamed to claim that they only lost because of the referee.

There is no controversy. The referee's decisions were not according to the rule book. You don't blow the whistle until the play is over (regardless whether it was or not offside). Both the linesman and central referee had their gag reflex on for Royal Madrid. It's not even up to question. Those two should not ever appear in a Ch. League game ever again. Referees have risked injuries by letting the game play where the attacker has 3-4 meters in offside and now they immediately blow for possibly a toe nail of offside. This should not be tolerated,
