Everytime I hear this song I start to cry and can't stop untill the song is over, never heard a song with more feeling in it.

I'm seventeen, and unfortunately never got the opportunity to see Stuart live, but he was a beautiful person, and musician. Whatever troubles lead to his death had to be so bad, that it makes me evaluate my problems, and i conclude their petty, compared to whatever Stuart was going through. It's sad, I grew up listening to this music, and as a kid I thought "the guy whos singing must be the happiest man alive." Now that I'm older it astonishes me. You can hear Stuarts pain in a lot of his music.

Stuart had it all: poetic song-writing skills, incredible lead guitar skills, a nice voice, good looks, and charm. God rest his soul. He was terrific.

A great song, with one of the finest lines ever written "Look at him now/Another used man/Bearing the passing of his dignity with all the courage that he can"A criminally underrated songwriter and musician - much missed.

I’ve listened to this band pretty much every day of my life since 1983. They had everything... along with Stuart’s genius, I could listen to Mark’s drumming for an eternity.

I Love music! I am 48 and embarrassed (sorta) that I only knew the Big Country "hits" until recently. It's great to hear this awesome music for the first time. Saw Mike Peters from the Alarm recently, found out he sang with BC for a bit and months later...here I am!

Saw Big Country at the Liverpool Empire in the 90's and it was a fantastic gig. God bless you Stuart and thank you for all the songs you've given us. R.I.P.

Stuart's voice haunts me. It so depressing to think that his genius is no longer with us. He had an ability to write songs and deliver them with meaning. I think everyone can find a Big Country song that they can relate to. The music world is a much sadder place without Stuart in it. RIP :(

Incredible vocals, incredible band

I know. Saw an interview during the Final Fling tour where he said he'd toured so much and now he wanted to spend time with the people that mattered to him. Less than a year later his marriage is dissolving, he's in the US and away from touring and his support system. Maybe that was it? Don't know. Haunts me, esp. when I hear Ships. Was that him talking about himself? Such obvious incredible talent, and from everything I've read just a nice guy to meet.

How beautiful was this man? And what a great voice too. A great loss, really. I hope he finally found peace, poor Stuart. Some demons are very hard to defeat.

First listened to big country in high school in the early 80s - and I was a metal head! Their music struck deep in my soul! I have been a fan ever since, now at 51 I love them even more. They never received half of the recognition they deserved! This song is just one of the greats from their list of awesome music!

I have only just discovered this gem of a song after seeing Big Country at York 'Fibbers'. Its just about the most beautiful song I have ever heard.

I'm 16 now, when I was younger, this was the song I would fall asleep to, the song I'd wake up to and the song I did everything with! I finally found it 11 years later!

This is music to live by. Here in the states no one remembers these guys; one day I heard In a Big Country (their only Stateside hit) on the radio and rushed home and spent the next half hour trying to remember the lyrics so I could find it on the net. So glad I did.

Following this i purchased 'Without the aid of a safety net' and listened to this track....oh my god, pure genius and would say one of my fave BC songs. I grew up listening to this song, im 18, my dad loves big country, And after a bit of questioning, i found out that my dad named me Calum after Stuarts son, who he went to see at one of his gigs, got recognised by Calum and got to go to the sound check with them, and also hes just got back from seeing Big Country in Nottingham, its sad what happened to Stuart and may he Rest In Peace, Love this song Forever.
