The VSO Gun Channel

Күн бұрын

The infamous traitor brand- Bigdaddy Unlimited, known for benadictine actions like sponsoring multiple gun buybacks, stealing product from vendors, and outright turning states evidence against their competition (while simultaneously running their business so poorly that they get raided) has been taken down.
Recently they declared bankruptcy (mostly because no one would "sell" them any product) and was taken to court by Leviathan Group. A default judgement was recently rendered in favor of Leviathan. Marking the demise of the once unique organization that squandered their potential with ignorant leadership.
BDU came on the scene years ago, courting social media influencers to promote their business but it became apparent that they were more interested in political aspirations than forming meaningful relationships. Eventually the bad business pattern emerged and most of us cut ties, some due to business concerns others concerned about indicators that this was not a true second amendment company.

Not sure why anyone wants to put their faith in an insurance company. They mostly buy other people's products, and mark them up 50% to 1,000% and sell their junk to suckers. That's another business model then "Don't pay for your products and materials" that this business did. If a supplier sells something, and sees others marking it up to ridiculous price, they might raise there's some is all. They got their check, it's CONSUMERS getting screwed. If you're ripping off the suppliers, pretty soon no suppliers will deal with you, and you go under. Like these guys. CTD doesn't use that business model. I saw one catalo (Not a CTD one.)g at one point selling 30 round boxes of M855 type ammunition for nearly $100 a box. I am sure the supplier got paid for that, and the price wasn't $50 (to say they made 100% profit. i am sure they made more.) per box, or anywhere close. You can stay in business FOREVER doing that. I agree to sell you the "Wadjet 2K" at $1.50 each, and you sell them for $20 each, I don't care, I got my check. I might think hard about raising my price, but that's immaterial. I still got paid.

I couldn't agree more I personally work for a major worldwide automotive supplier and not paying their bills is SOP. The latest news is they are shutting down the plant and making all the remaining employees sign non disclosure agreements to get the last of their benefits. Hell they told me I was laid off for lack of work and couldn't get any of my vacation time that was earned last year ? So at this point 100 people have lost their jobs, a small town has lost a business and the management doesn't care as long as they get theirs ! There's no honor in how businesses are run anymore.

@@12monkey57 I stopped watching Gun tube by and large because so many of these clowns are major shills and slimy grifters. VSO is one who I've always trusted 100%. Curt putting his name behind something means a lot to him. I won't name names, but I know for a fact there are more than few very large guntubers who are complete shills and nothing more. Many here would be shocked at the names. The reason I won't mention names is easy. Eventually they'll all be outted and that's going to be great to see. Too many shills and sleazeball grifters in the space. I'd seriously appreciate if they'd just say I'm getting paid good money for pushing this or that. I'd actually respect that. I got chumped into buying into a wildcat cartridge that was allegedly the latest and greatest at that time. Several huge names were behind the shilling and I bought into it. I ended up spending north of $1000 on the cartridges and an upper. It was the biggest fail of all time. The guys who shill'd it never even acknowledged my questions or complaints. Other than Curt and a few select others, for me YT is the last place I check for ideas or reviews on anything firearm related. It's a joke.

When a company leads with influencers, that’s a good indication that the products or services can’t sell themselves. Furthermore, as a 2A small business (gunsmith), it’s always been interesting to me the vendors who have huge buy-ins and are more interested in your credit t references than setting up an ACH payment where they get their money up front. They really want you to spend more money that you may not have.

I did not know about this. I had bought some pretty good deals on Big Daddy unlimited a long time ago. I just completely forgot all about them because I quit seeing them being advertised. I do like the idea of a gun company staging a gun buyback program in an area for a bunch of people who don't know what to do with theirs or want to get rid of their guns. Especially if it makes the anti-gunners think that something they like is happening. Just for that very same gun company to turn around and sell them back to the community to people who actually do want them. I think that is hilarious. I don't know why they weren't paying their bills if they weren't making sales or what, but I know that happens in other industries especially different trades and construction and in states that have new fledgling medical marijuana industries. But in all cases that's really jacked up.

"Gundistry News!"=interesting news. I got bad vibes from BDU and am glad I never had anything to do with them. They seemed like a company that was able to bring items that were too good to be true, at times, while not being a third world country producer. Anyway, great video, Curt, keep the info coming and I hope We, the American People, get our YT back, allowing you creators, and Us users, a Censorship Free Platform! Done my part.

Once upon a time, not paying your debts was a criminal offense and going bankrupt could become a capital crime. Now, bankruptcy is a tool in one's financial arsenal and being a deatbeat is shrugged off. There's got to be a point, somewhere along that line, where one can get back to being able to enter a financial agreement without a roomful of lawyers.

This sort of behavior isn't just limited to the gun industry as there are a ton of medium and big companies which seem to feel that paying bills is entirely optional. My first real job was working for a company which sold plumbing supplies to everyone from the handyman who fixed your leaking faucet to national chain stores - I did collections work and the bigger the company, the more problematic they were about paying their bills. As you noted, a lot of the larger companies were fond of "aging" their bills as they put it, meaning they would wait several months - yeah, 90 days was the minimum as I had some inform me they waited upwards of 180 days - before paying bills. But some simply didn't pay bills until you either threatened to cut them off or let them know you were going to sic legal on them if they didn't promise to have a check in your hands by the end of the week - there I was at age 23 telling the accounting departments of national retailers that I was going to cut them off and have them sued if I didn't see a payment processing inside of 5 business days. I later got a job with a video game distributor and part of my duties also involved collections with clients and it was the same thing - national department store and video game specialty store chains forcing me to threaten no more video games on their shelves if I didn't have a check from them in my inbox by Monday morning. So the good news is that this isn't just a problem with the gun industry, although I'm loath to call a problem like this a good one for all those smaller companies that have to go through BS like that to get paid by them.

Issues paying invoices on time or at all is a big sign of a struggling business. It happens in many industries. Basically they lack the sales volume to maintain their operations. It can be a catch 22... You need to maintain sufficient inventory to attract sales and limit out of stock situations so you can have increased sales. But you also need large sales volumes to maintain that inventory. Seems Big Daddy did not grow fast enough to sustain, or their antics cost them too many sales to maintain themselves.

Kurt, you are one of only 3 guntubers that I take seriously and truly respect their opinions... However I think your bias towards leviathan might be showing a little bit in this video. You're praising them for upholding contractual agreements that *THEY* made on your behalf. That'd be like me praising the power company for not shutting off your power because you only paid the initial hookup fee & didn't prepay for your first 3 months. If Leviathan is such a great company to work with then why did Garandthumb leave? I know they provide a service that most creators are happy with, but I also think they could do a *much* better job of selecting their ad partners and I think you probably agree.

It's a problem in EVERY industry. It's MADDENING. I run a company that services orgs across every vertical you can possibly imagine. Every single industry there are businesses that try to stiff us. A lot, actually. It's really bad. I don't know what's gotten into people, but there's a ton of small to mid sized orgs out there just fleecing vendors. Like, fuck our bills, I guess.

I’m always confused why the call it a gun “buyback”. No government agency has ever sold the public a gun as far as I know. I mean, there are those police used pistols that are sold by some dealers like Classic Firearms and others, but there aren’t any government gun stores that I’m aware of.
