This is a great video for anyone who is looking to install a gorilla lift on their own! You'll see how the installation process works, and you'll be able to learn some tips that will help you install a gorilla lift more easily the next time you need to do so. For this installation we had to fabricate some metal standoffs that we welded to the round rail trailer, then we mounted the gorilla lift to our fabricated brackets. So be sure to watch this video to learn all you need to know about installing a gorilla lift!

When setting parallels across spans such as on that trailer. Bring two lengths of tube or angle to stretch across and clamp on the top of the gorilla tubes on the trailer. From there fine tune the alignment as they will be placed at the exact horizontal plane resting on the pipe. it will cut more time.

Hi Brandon, it’s nice to see you working hard again. And I must say that everything you stated in your latest video about going the extra mile to do excellent work is what I am all about also. Perfection is out of our reach, but excellence is what we are supposed to strive for. How do I know? Because our creator says so. I try to find people like you on KZfaq that can inspire me and make me better. Thank you for what you do. We need more men and women out there like you, brother.

Hi Brandon.Nice job on the trailer. You're right about the finishing touches. It'll leave a good mark that you do things the way it should be. The paint finish will tell the client that you did a very good job and the story will spread like wild fire.. you were just requested to install the lift and you've done it like straitgh from the factory. Good job. Keep it up. Thanks and God Bless. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Great video Brandon! You are sooo right about those details! I know a bunch of welders a lot better than me, but the finished product, strong and well fit, looks unfinished because of the details! Bad on them I guess, they always finish before me, but mine is ready for paint, and don't think that the customer doesn't notice. Thanks for your time and sharing! 👍😎🇺🇸

I spent my entire career in production metal fab so simple fixturing is automatic for me. It's easy to forget that other people have different backgrounds and do not think that way... I then spent a few years playing electrician installing conveyor systems and kinda took over the on-site fabrication operation.. The electricians thought I was a genius for things as simple as clamping stops to a drill press table instead of hand marking 50 or more pieces individually.... Great simple explanation today... TIP: (you knew it was coming) Grinding a small chamfer on the bottom corner of the stop will eliminate chip build-up that can throw off the accuracy.... Good job on the project working through all the issues...

Brandon, I'm soon to pickup a "new" trailer that was used on a flashing arrow sign. The bed measures about 4'x4'. I plan to lengthen it forward about a for or so. It's a flatbed, so I'll need sideboards as well. It was a piece of construction equipment so it was never registered or licensed, so I'll have to go through that in my upgrades. I plan to put this on your FB page when I get it, and will go through the details there.

I think you might still be losing a kerf thickness on your parts subsequent to the first one. First cut is on left of cut line = accurate. This has removed a kerf thickness from the beginning of the 2nd piece. So cutting to left of second line is short of the measured (desired) length. Since this project has arbitrary length pieces is is inconsequential, but if it were an assembly there would be problems.

Most people just use one but since his tailgate is heavier, why not. I went to a 10 pound spool of welding wire myself, after the 2 pound went empty. I would think that a spacer could be put on between the cable and the tailgate to keep it straight, just my opinion.

Brandon, you'll want to be very careful using gloves around rotating equipment. I worked for a company where one of the employees cut his finger on a lumber saw that pulled his gloved hand into the saw. My employer at another company at one point required us to wear gloves for drilling, grinding, etc because the company he contracted with required it. I told him the above-mentioned account, and he did some research, and reached the conclusion that OSHA prohibits this. If you're worried about OSHA, you have to have a minimum of 8 employees for them to come after you, so you are definitely in the clear. I currently work for myself, so I'm also okay in regards.

Both! Winters here in Maine are brutal on metal. I had a truck that rotted out in 10 years. It ran like a charm but the body and frame disintegrated. I learned the hard way about undercoating. Either the metal was better years ago or they changed the mixture of what they apply on the roads here in the winter because we never undercoated our vehicles and we never had these problems until the last 10 or so years.
