Rats are destroying every farm and destroying the feed of cattle, pig, poultry and every human feed.
We shoot them to save our farms and cattle, pig, and poultry farms from them,
They produce approximately 500 babies per year and again the babies will become mature and they also start production. And finally make a full power army.
They are a type of production machines while producing.
We have no way except this one.

when a food source is readily available it doesn't take long at all for rats to multiply big time. gestation time is only around 3 weeks, litters producing around 6-12 new rats. and newborn females only need around 6 weeks before they can give birth. it's partly the farmer's fault for making food so easily accessible for the rats but they just keep multiplying until the food source is exhausted or no longer available. shooting them + feral cats keep the numbers down

each female produces a litter every 28 days. A litter can be as few as 6 and as many as 15. The females are sexually mature after 120 days from birth. Do the math , they are very prolific little creatures.

Smorgasbord for hawks, vultures, etc. it’s the reason you don’t want to poison them. We used to do this with prairie dogs in Colorado. The prairie dog holes could cause cattle or horses to break a leg. You don’t want to introduce poison in the food chain.

It's usual to go back with the lights on or wait until morning then get them together and dump or burn them. If they're in the open and not all that many you can leave them but when it's dozens in a barn you'd do a pick-up afterwards.

This brings back memories !! In my younger days, we used to shoot rats in an old barn & field close to where l lived: owner didn't want to use poison due to other livestock present, so they let us have "turkey shoots" with our BB & pellet guns...(altogether, we must've killed over a hundred rats)

Distance? Air, co2 or small caliber rifle? I can hear a pop, but that can be the case with air and co2 also. I'm going to assume co2 depending on distance based on how we can see the bb/pellet travel and how it barely has a drop. The FPS seems a lot lower. A bolt action pellet gun. Even a small caliber bullet at a shortish distance would be much harder to see and it would make no sense to go that far out for rats. Cost efficient as well, ammunition wise...and the gun itself. If it were air pumped we'd see you take breaks in between to pump it, unless you edited it out to cut time. But my money is on a co2 bolt action pellet rifle. Most air pumped rifles don't have that many shots in between and some you have to pump for every shot. Co2 pellet rifles have magazines that can hold a decent amount of pellets/bbs, so co2 rifle is my educated guess. Can find magazines with a 300 count reservoir and 25 in the feeder. Am I wrong?
