The inside of a river bend is usually the deepest part and where the water runs the fastest. Definitely looks like that is what caused Scott the most issues. Great tune.

Not a bragger but i did that in a HT Holden kingswood, which is a 2wd 186 petrol with an exposed distributor, we did it at night and the headlights were underwater for some of it and it was about the same current as shown here but maybe I had slightly further to travel. Had to remove the fanbelt so we didnt soak the electrics also wrapped the distibutor with a plastic bag. Had I stalled mid stream, I would have floated away. From Port Hedland to Darwin after cyclone Amy January 1980. We must have crossed near 30 rivers as no bridges and mainly dirt roads 40 years ago. A very wet season. One river we crossed a swb toyota landcruiser was washed off and the family drowned inside, three days prior to us crossing.You guys have got good nerves. I couldn't do it again. I haven't got the guts anymore. Thanks for the memories., made my heart skip a beat but.

80 series... The Alltime Godfather!!!
@Adi-kr5nd4 жыл бұрын
The 200 series had really good water and dust seals causing it to float which made it more difficult for it to grab traction whereas the older vehicles let plenty of water into the cabin causing the vehicle to stay planted on the ground rather than floating away as the 200 did.
The performance evaluation would have been more accurate if the 80 series driver had tested them all. Sometimes it depends on who's behind the wheel.

The spare tyre underneath would be doing a pretty good job of keeping that 200s arse in the air. Take the spare out from underneath and replace it with some dead weight - be creative 🤘🤘 will drive straight through it

David Bennett ,might be the drivers using extra engine supports for the daring drive. What do you say? You,too must be a great driver, I guess.
River crossing is dangerous because the driver may not know its depth and conditions underneath; it all depends on guessing game and determination. Knowing the waterway can help a driver to zero in on the right track by studying the flowing waves of the river. The flowing ripples denote the obstacles under the river's bottom.

I dont think so...cant climb out so easy especially if you flip and a window is an exit. Plus better to have little clothing on as you wanna get out of there pretty quick and not stay in the water too long.

This frighteningly dumb to me. The modern 4x4 (like the Cruiser) is almost water tight, so they physically float in anything above about 70cms depth. Put that floating car in a torrent and you'll be calling for a swift water rescue team...downstream.

Come to America.. Run Mosquito Pass..highest road in America. 13,186'. Drive the beaches down Padre Island. 4wd only and you better have a big healthy V-8 to beat the incoming tide.. California Gold country mountain roads, like The Rubicon. But nothing in America, or probably the world can compare to Blanca Peak. Double diamond rated. Winch cable And tagline cables required. Swamps of the south. Muck so sticky you can be stuck with only one tire mired.

May i ask a strange question ? Why the cars didnt keep the doors open so the strong current would pass through inside the car ,and the results would be :1) the water inside will reduce the side force that applied to the closed door 2) the car will become heavier and not floating so this will give grip 3) the side force would be defeated from the force of the engine that pull the car to the exit 4) the water will be inside the car and not save it from this .maybe less water but still is water inside and not go outtside till you drain it after passing. . By opening the doors you use the water for your safety.
