There are truckers who do vlogs here in the states, so if you're looking for driving footage, check them out. Some of them are Russian, but they do speak English too. I would show you a really great one but I don't remember what it's called... but it was more mountainous terrain with evergreen trees, and insane views. Edit: Okay I remember the place now. It's called "Donner Pass" ... it's taken many truck drivers lives. Dangerous but beautiful route.

Stonehenge replica was built by Sam Hill along with the Sam Hill Museum. Stonehenge was a memorial to the WW1 veterans of Klickitat county. The Museum was built for the queen of Romania. Sam Hill is buried just south of Stonehenge. The original town of Maryhill is just west of Stonehenge. The town that is called Maryhill now, was orginally called Columbus. The first paved highway in the state is Maryhill loops, paid for by Sam Hill. Drove that road a lot.

Could his view have been blocked by the sign down the road ? I watched it again and noticed that the oncoming truck was down in the dip and might have been blocked by the sign , maybe ? The sign way down on the side of the road. I agree that the guy should have waited but i also wonder how fast the truck was going.
@mike2039209 жыл бұрын
I can believe that he thought he saw a turn signal. He was watching the truck passing next to a guard rail. I can see how the truck passing by the guard rail could create the illusion of a blinking turn signal. However even if the oncoming truck actually had his turn signal on it doesn't change the fact that you should never trust a turn signal.

@mirangermanll5 жыл бұрын
@Daniel Alba . From what it looks to me - the driver turning left was at fault, like you said; not paying attention, and in a hurry. He had plenty of room, IMHO -to notice that other truck coming around the curve, and the sign itself is far enough away from the corner, where it couldn't have blocked his view for more than a second.
@sstocker318 жыл бұрын
It has been mentioned before, but if you stop the video at 5:54 you can see that from the drivers position of the truck thats turning, the truck coming down the hill is probably partly hidden by the big sign. He was probably looking right just after he started moving into the intersection, and when he looked left again it was too late to do anything except continue. This kind of accident happens all the time, but it's still the turning trucks fault for not ensuring it's safe to turn. Did your truck get damaged in any way?

The roads along the Columbia river are in the middle of beautiful scenery but dang that interchange is dangerous. Had that reefer been loaded... much different impact. That guy coming down the hill would have been killed. I also think that while the dummy that pulled out is clearly at fault, the guy coming east was doing so pretty aggressively, seeing how probably 98% of all eastbound trucks on 14 are proceeding down the hill on 97 to Biggs Jct. Nobody coming north expects a southbound truck to continue east there. Say what you will but if I'm that guy I'm not blasting through there at that speed expecting a free pass. Aggressive driving IMO not defensive at all. Also notice the congestion there at the time of this accident, lots going on. Amazing video.
@01Sterlitz3 жыл бұрын
Too many people at that intersection assume vehicles, especially trucks, are going to turn. When they don't turn, they get a surprise. Not the first accident there. By the way, that area is mid state, across the river from Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge- just south of Goldendale, Wa.
@texaslonewolf328 жыл бұрын
SNAP!!!! that made my butt pucker up..... the truck pulling out making a left turn knew he should have waited and NOT assume the other truck may be making a right turn.. besides common sense alone will tell you the truck coming down the hill was not even slowing down for a turn... the truck that pulled out is at fault no excuse he can give tells otherwise..

Wow. I have been at that same turn-off the Hwy 97 South, I don't know how many times while on my way to Portland. Same story pulling a 53 dry van in my case. But never having something like that happen. This dash-cam driver should have pulled up to block the northbound 97 truck, not wait back. Sometimes you think you are being a nice guy by waiting back to let someone in as in the case of this dash-cam driver obviously did but it is the dumbest thing that you can do. What I am saying is when you do this, you think you are helping someone in their drive but you are actually interfering with their intended purpose. He should have pulled up where the green car turned waiting his turn to go left down Hwy 97 but didn't. As a result he more or less helped cause this accident. Hwy 14 traffic had the right of way, not Hwy 97 at this intersection. Hwy 97 northbound has to wait for Hwy 14 to be clear. You might argue with my logic but I have over 2 million miles safe driving as a professional driver and have been making a living doing this since 1987. I have seen this happen before when someone attempts to help another driver enter a roadway or intersection. I do have to add that this is a very dangerous intersection that can be very busy with traffic, but the best decision is to wait until it is all clear then proceed. Again, let others drive their own path and don't try to think for them. That way it is safer for all of us. I'm sure Daniel will argue that he did no wrong and I don't know what I am talking about. The ultimate blame was with the northbound truck that was hit.
