Big Seed Job | Skid Steer Satisfaction | Bobcat 72" Soil Conditioner
We are a local lawn and landscaping company based out of Freeburg IL. Family owned/operated and started from the ground up. My brother (Nic) and I (Alex) are doing our best to build a company we will be happy to work in. It has been an adventure and a struggle at times but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! We began our journey on youtube to document our company history and we would be happy to have you along for the ride! We have big dreams and have hardly scratched the surface of where we want to be.

I love my Harley rake except mine is a lot bigger at ‘16. I usually run it over 2 times, then run a rock rake to remove the little rocks that get dislodged, spread lime, litter, commercial fertilizer, etc. (whatever a soil test calls for), then run the rake over another two times just to get down 3-5 inches, then the rock rake again and one more pass with the rake to make sure it’s all level and then drill seed. This is just for land on my farm I am reclaiming from overgrown brush. Makes absolutely beautiful pastures and hay fields.

The reason the formula was off on the bales is because it is probly taking into account say a 75lb bale of straw but if the farmer only packed it at say 60 lbs then you as a landscaper end up running short. But if he packed them heavy then you may possibly have more than enough by the formula. It all depends upon how heavy the farmer bales his straw at tho. Great video. I used to live in Iowa and miss that midwestern countryside and the work ethics of everyone there, the Midwest has the best people in the world brother, don’t take it for granted
@nickenslandscapingexcavating
@nickenslandscapingexcavating 5 жыл бұрын
Don Pfeiffer Thank you for the input sir! You are definitely right on the weight of the bale. These were heavy but I’m not sure if they were exactly 75 or not.. definitely something i need to keep in mind for future jobs! Thanks again 🙂 and yes the Midwest is great! I love it here

Ryan Berkoski Around here straw goes hand in hand with seed. It is to allow moisture to stay with the seed and allow it to germinate. When the seed starts to come up the straw will turn into compost and you will never know it was laid out 👍🏼

I wouldn’t even want to see this bill for this using sod lol. This is stuff like where I’m from. Where I live people try to use sod and they don’t want to spend a ton of money so the sod dealers here tell them that it’s ok to make a checker board of it. I hate that and it’s annoying to cut. I agree with the seed here. What kind of drone do you use? I see like almost everyone buy a drone and then go back and buy 2 more bc they take too long to set up. Is yours an easy one to set up?

No rockhound? No hand rake? Do you rake the seed in? Were there still rocks? Looked like a harley, seed and straw from the video. I like the idea of the ride on fertilizer spreader. Ill have to try that on big ones. I stay away from real big ones honestly. Too much liability. If you have to reseed its hundreds of dollars in seed. Can get nasty. Question. Do you warrenty lawns? Do you educate your customers on maintenance? Ever have customers find a rock and call you?
@nickenslandscapingexcavating
@nickenslandscapingexcavating 5 жыл бұрын
brian king there were no rocks here other than a couple by the driveway. We don’t have rocky soil here. I’ve honestly never used a rock hound. Most seed should germinate. We have had great conditions and steady rain. I told them they will have to reseed. They understand this is their foundation not the one and done type project.

Sound like a great customer. The customers I deal with are very condescending and ignorant. Do you ever deal with customers like this? Ones that say mowing has nothing to do with a nice lawn. Or see a weed and give up on watering saying im watering weeds. And dont impliment a weed fertilizer program. Or ones that say needs more topsoil. You didnt bring enough topsoil!

@willwillison1338
@willwillison1338 4 жыл бұрын
The reason for going forward is because it turns up the dirt in front and will prevent the machine from driving over uneven humps. From the looks of this plot, it was already graded so reverse works just fine. Going in reverse fluffs the dirt up a bit more. Also remember to make sure your machine is in "float" mode at certain stages of the job. Sweet work.
