Something nobody seems to be bringing up is that both of the secret boss battles are against 'discarded things' Jevil is the joker card which is notorious for being the card people discard before the cards are dealt And Spamton is literally spam which is discarded 100% of the time, by people under 40 and over 11 This gets me thinking that the vessel we created and then discarded at the beginning of the chapter 1 is going to tie into final secret boss

I hate that this theme is stuck in my head. He was such an unsettling character and yet all I can think is NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A BIG SHOT, BE A BIG, BE A BIG, BE A BIG SHOT-

I'm obsessed with this song because it somehow manages to be a perfect character piece on Spamton while having no lyrics. You can catch Mettaton NEO's leitmotif in the opening, hinting at his body's origins, as well as a clear reference to the 'ghost fight' theme that mad dummy, napstablook, and mettaton all use in undertale right at the end, tying into how he is powerless, nothing more than a puppet inhabiting a vessel. Toby fox is so fucking talented.

Weird place to admit it, but both this and Your Best Nightmare are scenes that, at least in my head, paint stories of being the loser. Both songs are so overpowering and aggressive, and both paint scenarios with overwhelming and impossible obstacles.

The “audience” that pops up constantly in the battle text is just spamton flash backing to moments in his life, and all the people who were involved are replaced by the “audience”. “Spamton begs the audience to stop taking the furniture out of his room” he’s remembering being evicted from the queens castle, and ect

Love that there's an audience chanting too at some points in this song. It's made even better by the fact that Spamton is technically using Mettaton's NEO body.

I feel like this track really hits the hardest during the Snowgrave route. During that battle, it doesn’t feel like a typical boss song. In the past, we’ve seen songs from Toby that are obviously Good Guy vs Bad Guy, like in Omega Flowey or Chaos King. It’s also not some theme of you being the bad guy, like in Battle Against a True Hero. Instead, Big Shot is the story of two bad guys that wanted to make it to the top, and eventually realize that they need to take each other down to get there. That’s why I love it so much, it’s chaotic like The World Revolving but it’s just more… evil than the other songs. One of my favorite Toby Fox songs by far.

1:36 - 1:48 I love this part so dang much. It's very jazzy, and it fits well with Spamton's madness. The crowd yelling with Spamton is also a really nice touch. Edit: coming in six months later to say 0:40 - 0:55 gives me a lot of Mega Man X vibes. Feels like Toby took Armored Armadillo's theme and gave it the wacky but desperate Spamton treatment. man this song is good.

Chapter 1 always had a smaller fanbase than undertale but after playing chapter 2, i think deltarune definitely has the potential to surpass Undertale as a game

Would anyone else, who's into deltarune lore, agree with me that this is the saddest track in game as of right now? Once you know quite more about spamton and story overall, this track just seems to hit diffrent.

So, can we talk about how this character literally emotionally scarred Kris after the fight? Like if you choose the "No" option when Susie asks if Kris is okay, they start yelling Genuinely such a disturbing reaction, Spamton being a direct reflection of Kris and the player is so cool to me

toby has the ability to make a lighthearted, funny RPG become something very unsettling, this is the shit I play his games for

I love how the fact that Jevil and Spamton are basically the same character (started out as popular, but slowly began to fall out of touch after meeting "someone" and eventually got kicked out due to their eccentric behavior), and the only real difference between the two is that Jevil has the exact answer Spamton was looking for regarding the nature of the world they're trapped in. It's amazing how one single piece of knowledge can cause the characters to have such different personalities and outlooks.

I love how this theme is literally the culmination of a guy who once had everything (which is why the song is so upbeat) but now has been left to rot for the rest of his life (the glitchy sounds and the “Big Shot” part being messed up)

i love the extra disturbing flavor text in this boss fight, like "the stage lights are shattered", "smells like rotten glass" and Spamton's entire character arc with a non-existant audience everything about this is so fucked up and surreal, and i love it

this song simultaneously has: -the world revolving -battle against a true hero -dummy! -and power of neo all in one and that makes it 10x better

I really like the theory that Imagine Miles brought up on how the secret bosses all relate to discarded things. Jevil is the joker card. Spamton is spam. But I want to expand on it. Chapter 1 is themed around board and card games. The enemies and environment feel reminiscent of a board game. For example, Lancer and the king attack with Spades. A particular environment is set on a checkerboard. A character is called Clover, a symbol on card games like the spade. Hathy is reminiscent of a king in chess or a card game. The jigsaw characters, obviously a play on jigsaw puzzles. Ponman is like the chess pawns. And Bloxer is like the stacking the blocks games like Jenga. Which is why Jevil is the discarded Joker in a card deck. Chapter 2 obviously has a computer, web, and internet theming. Which is why there’s a lot of gaming references, and a cyber world. The Queen is a literal computer. Spamtom is spam, and nobody on the internet likes Spam. Since the next chapter supposedly surrounds television, there must be a discarded character surrounding television of some kind. My choice would be a guy who is a radio, in reference to television killing radio, as well as being an amalgamation of rejected television. He is depressed, non chalant, and resembles a broken radio. Just a broken character who just wants to murder anyone who supports Mike (the suppose villain who resembles a television). And because Kris and Susie like television, he confuses you as Mike Sympathizers. I call him VQ Revo Roberts. VQ smokes a lot of cigarettes, in reference to those 1950s smoking commercials. In fact, he likes making references to forgotten television in that era. And I think his setting would be a run down, forgotten drug store if you want to shop from him. His boss setting would be in a forgotten, run down baseball field. VQ and Mike might have had a nasty past. The fight ends when VQ would die by choking on some tobacco, which was considered cool to smoke back in the 50s. Where you would receive the shadow crystal. Just an idea though…

The way that Spamton NEO's body just sits there for a moment if you manage to cut all of his strings chilled me. I personally was expecting something nice to happen after we cut his strings, like Spamton would revert to who he was before or something, but no. The background cuts to black and his lifeless body hits the floor. Spamton couldn't break his own strings, which I found really ominous in terms of Kris. Without their SOUL, *without their strings*, they kind of just... limp around. In the times of the game where they remove their SOUL from their body, they're barely able to move anywhere normally, looking like they're in pain, looking like it's a struggle to even move around; Almost as if they need us, the SOUL. Why else would the soul be right back in Kris' body after the ending of Chapter 1? Why else would they stuff it back into their body in Chapter 2 several times? How chilled Kris seems after defeating Spamton NEO really seems to hit this in on the nail, as they're obviously shaken up by Spamton's words. What will happen if Kris manages to successfully cut their strings? A puppet without strings is a puppet without purpose.

My all time favorite videogame OST. I can't even explain how significant and representative it is. Toby, thank you for existing, from the bottom of my heart.

This song gives me chills. And even though it's a combination of different songs, it still sounds like it's original theme. That's how good Toby is at this.

This might be the only undertale/deltarune song where I haven't found a single remix or cover that surpasses it. This might be my favorite so far.

So many weird sound effects here underneath all the instruments. Indistinguishable voices, the "Big Shot" lines, The EARTHBOUND WOAOW, not to mention the sound that Omega Flowey makes when it's getting hurt late-battle. When I first played Deltarune it took me around 20 tries to beat the Jevil. Thirteen tours of duty in Gensokyo later, Spamton NEO takes two tries. Feel like a total [Big Shot].

So let's see. We have Spamton's Theme. There's a whole section that references The World Revolving, with Power of NEO. There's a small section at the end that references the piano solo at the end of Dummy! Battle Against A True Hero can also technically be heard in the mix too.

1:29 why does literally nobody talk about this part with the violin bits in the background flaring up with the main leitmotif it sounds so fucking sick and it's my favorite part of the song, it adds to the tension and overall sense of urgency and the whole pace of the song, as well as sounding badass and I love it sm, that as well as the almost discordant and delicate piano-sounding instrument backing it up compliments it in that manner as well and it's done SO WELLLLL (unfortunately a lot of covers and recreations leave that detail out instead of doing their own version or trying to replicate it its a shame cause its such a crucial thing to leave out to me i wish it was incorporated more often) it's not much but it really adds a lot imho idfk how toby does this shit so well

In Chapter 1, Toby was very conservative with capital letters in titles, only ANOTHER HIM, THE HOLY, and THE WORLD REVOLVING used capitals. In Chapter 2, we now have A CYBER'S WORLD?, WELCOME TO THE CITY, HEY EVERY, NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE A, KEYGEN, and BIG SHOT. Something to dwell on. If you want to associate capital letters with Gaster, it would seem that his influence is growing. But this is nothing more than speculation

I was in the middle of a newfound addiction to Big Shot by Billy Joel when this chapter came out of nowhere & replaced that addiction with an addiction to BIG SHOT.

nobody seems to be talking about just how much this song fills you with a feeling of impending doom. especially the intro. this does not feel like a battle with a pathetic man clinging to a broken form he found in a basement. this is a battle against a godlike being with a taste for blood. spamton NEO is the most powerful thing you have fought against in your journey so far, with the power to take over all of cyber world on his own if not for you. this should be the end, and yet it isn't.

Just a thought: When you get Spamton Neo's health down to 10% in the secret Snowgrave route battle, he says something a long the lines of "Neo is known for its high defense." I think that maybe this was a jab at Mettaton Neo as he is one shot immediately.

I see a lot of people talking about Spamton NEO and his relation to Jevil, and while it does make more sense to talk about their relation as Superbosses, I feel like I have to point out how absolutely nobody seems put off by Tasq Manager also knowing who Jevil is, despite being from a separate Dark World. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have noticed that she makes a reference to him when you're wearing Jevil's Tail, right? To my knowledge, nobody else in Chapter 2 but Spamton seems to know who Jevil is. I dunno it just feels like an oddly specific detail for Tasq Manager _specifically_ to have this reference to Jevil.

If you listen closely you'll notice the murmuring at 1:08 is actually additional lyrics. The music makes it extremely hard to make out though, the only things I've been able to notice by ear are the last lines of the lyrics in places where the music isn't as obstructive. These lines are in order: "...all alone", "...really hot!", "...turn into a big shot!". (EDIT): It's been 3 months already since I made this post, wow.
