In defense of the "Big Sky" claim, it's something you have to see to believe. I was skeptical before visiting Montana. Whatever the scientific explanation for the illusion, it's real, and it's weird, and it's beautiful. It's like being inside a domed stadium, but then being inside a much bigger dome.

Glad you liked our state! The Big Sky is best looked at in Livingston. Livingston is on a flat plain where 3 major ranges of the Rockies meet and begin/end. Windiest place in Montana for that reason. But the sky having those mid afternoon clouds dwarf 10,000 Mountain Ranges. You feel like you can see for 500 Miles. The Ranges of the Rockies give the feeling of the sight. It becomes like an optical illusion because Earth and Sky meet and seemingly blend in.

Washington-Grizzly Stadium is one of the greatest settings in college football. It's an awesome experience with the raucous crowd noise and Mt. Sentinel as a backdrop. A mecca of small college football. The Big Sky really does have some fascinating stadiums. I love the Walkup Skydome and Kibbie Dome. Sure, they're dated, but they have charm. Hold Arena looks straight from the '70s. Would love to go to a game there. EWU's stadium and red field is a retina-searing catastrophe. Thanks for another great video. Portland State use to play at the MLS stadium in downtown Portland. At Idaho State, there's been many instances when a field goal attempt has hit the roof or rafters above the goal posts and caused some confusion about whether the kick was good or not. The google earth view of MSU is several years old. The surrounding parking lots have been paved the running track around back has new surfaces and there’s been plenty of modern editions to the stadium itself. As for the best stadiums in the conference it’s easily UM and MSU in some order. As a fan who has been to games in both this year Montana has better non football aspects, better food options, better tailgating, more fans. However when it comes down to the actual game, the runout, the band, the cheerleaders, the fan atmosphere and the teams themselves MSU is pulling further and further ahead every year.
@michaelhamel70492 жыл бұрын
Don't agree about the tailgating, but I agree with everything else. One thing that is kind of annoying is the stadium is almost empty at the beginning of the 3rd quarter because all the fans are out tailgating. The first one they built collapsed. What is your school's specialty again? Haha FTC
@kennethbeartusk512 жыл бұрын
@@play712 You're mistaken. The building that collapsed 2 years ago was not part of the football stadium. It was a section of the fitness center about 1/4 mile from Bobcat Stadium. I believe your school's specialty must be being misinformed. That's unfortunate. Cheers mate.

THat roof structure at NAU is basically identical to the one used at Weber STate's Indoor Arena, Dee Events Center.. roof structure basically looks identical. Of course the SKydome is significantly larger to fit in a football field.

The L on Mt. Jumbo in Missoula is for Loyola-Sacred Heart High School. There’s also an H to the south of the L. For Hellgate High School.
@taylorbad2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, the H is long gone. The students agreed several years ago that they didn't need to monogram the mountain. The L was made of whitewashed rocks that made it susceptible to being re-arranged to spell other stuff. That problem was solved when a group of parents with a wealthy backer hired a helicopter to make a monolithic concrete L.

Idaho rejoined the Sun Belt Conference in 2014 after a season as an independent in 2013, and eight seasons in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), which dropped football after the 2012 season. The Vandals were previously in the Sun Belt (also football only) from 2001 through 2004, after the Big West dropped football. On August 18, 2012, Idaho was cleared to stay in the Football Bowl Subdivision as an independent after the WAC announced it would drop football effective with the end of the 2012 season. Idaho would only remain a football independent for the 2013 season; on March 27 of that year, the Sun Belt Conference announced that Idaho would return as a football-only member starting with the 2014 season. Nearly two years later in 2016, the Sun Belt Conference announced via teleconference that neither the University of Idaho nor New Mexico State University would be renewed after the 2017 football season. In 2018, Idaho resumed full membership in the Big Sky Conference, which participates in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Thanks for doing this one. I played at UNC in the early 90s when we played at Jackson Field. Nottingham Isn't much better. I don't want to be too critical of my Alma mater, it's just not a "serious" stadium. UC Davis, Montana, and Montana State have the best ones. Cal Poly is alright. They don't have tracks and they have a plan for their bleachers. NAU is the best of the domes. The other. domes look archaic.
