@@mrcy9307not a Sapnap fan but the issue isn’t with switching platforms, it’s with Kick specifically. When you have someone like Adin Ross as the face of your platform, regardless of whether or not that was your intention, it doesn’t tend to make people want to support you.

Adin Ross is not the "face of Kick". He's also somewhat of a garbage human being, and CHOOSES not to moderate his chat there, letting them fly off the handle like what was shown. This would happen in any other massive streams if not moderated properly either. There are plenty of moderation tools available, and very wholesome community streams on Kick currently, just like there are STILL unmoderated and downright hateful streams on Twitch as well. Did it occur to any of sapnap’s community that by signing sapnap, Kick was attempting to change the general demographic of the viewers on their website? Sapnap and his community seem amazing, and would have been a huge force to push against the vitriol that comes out of Aiden’s streams. They might have even had the power to push kick into increasing general moderation rules. Instead they all gave up on Sapnap and kick and made judgements instead of making improvements.
@MrJoosebawkz
@MrJoosebawkz Жыл бұрын
i think sapnap is kind of missing the point. It’s impossible to argue whether kick has more or less hate speech then twitter. _But_ Kick is a small ecosystem with only a few top streamers and the main face of the brand whose been directly supported and propped up by Kick does things like interview (that one nazi guy I forget his name and tbh its not worth remembering) and fosters a transphobic, homophobic, and racist community. Twitter does also support racist people but it’s much larger with lots of independent insular communities and that change is honestly fairly recent, and lots of other types of communities were able to get their own footing before that happened. with kick, since it’s known for being the “based” twitch, the vast majority of its userbase are the kind of people you wouldnt want in ur chat as a normal well adjusted person

There's literally no point to be made. If you see people in your chat that you don't want there you can just ban them. If you don't like certain streamers and the way they act then just don't watch them. If you don't want to see gambling/sexual content then you can literally push a button to get rid of all of that content. There's no reason sapnap's streams would be any different than they would be on twitch or yt. It's all just overblown nonsense by oversensitive kids.

@@annieone-trick oh ya my bad ur right
@MrJoosebawkz
@MrJoosebawkz Жыл бұрын
@@nighthawk2548 the issue isn’t for if sapnap or tubbo moved communities imo. It’s more for somebody with little to no community making the choice if theyre going to start streaming on Kick (since it is better for creators purely from the monetization angle) or Twitch. If you’re trans and you try to start streaming on Kick it’s just going to be objectively worse than Twitch as far as community building goes. You’re not going to have automods and a team of mods to kick people. You probably won’t even be able to get out of the sub 100 viewer elo hell with follow mode on bc u need to make engagement easy so even if u kick people spanning slurs they’ll just come back. And since the kick user base in general largely just wants you to die on principle it’s just going to be shitty. I agree if a big streamer moves sites it’s not like their community is going to change much on kick unless kick handles chat moderation differently. But it still does have an effect on the site as a whole. My main point is that it’s impossible to objectively quantify the culture of a site but we can make inferences off of how Kick is being run. And they’re putting their full support into streamers who interview nazis and have a chat filled w the hard r and death threats. You can tell what the overall culture of the site is from that.

People seem to not understand that Kick will eventually, if it gets popular enough, change how it’s ran to match the cost demand. Mainly, the freedom to say and do whatever you want will slowly evaporate to appease advertisers. This path is unavoidable for any platform that wants to be taken seriously amongst the current giants. Think the toxic and intimidating audience Kick has cultivated stems straight back to its first big users. Adin, Trainwrecks, XQC etc. The behavior of W community streamers and their chats has always been on the edge of, if not entirely, toxicity. I mean Adin is directly linked to Andrew Tate. So the fact that Kick started out with those people and those communities, obviously will set a tone for the platform and who is drawn to it, to either stream or view. If Kick wants to change and be an place for EVERYONE then its going to have to start clamping down on the behavior of some of its founding communities... which I dont see them doing. Twitch isn't a good platform for streaming anymore. But I can't say that Kick is much better. Of course it has the amazing offer for pay deals, and the points you make. But the the freedom for limited moderation just makes it a melting pot for anyone to say anything and do anything without consequences... which clearly invites internet trolls and degenerates from these communities to run rampant. I can go find you screenshots of hate speech on twitch as well because its a single moment in time that hate speech is said. Maybe its people making accounts to say hate speech to screenshot and spread negativity before its removed by mods? It seems a lot of people have a negative opinion on something that they haven't even went and looked first hand. I'm Canadian and hear Americans are dumb doesn't mean imma apply that to all Americans and leave it at that, I'll meet a bunch and realize that only the ones viral and in the spotlight are usually not the brightest putting a stigma on all Americans.

No, nobody wants to go on them because nobody ever makes an “uncensored” version of something that doesn’t already exist and is already very popular. If Kick was the very first streaming site and was uncensored, it still would have become popular. People just don’t like moving to new services. Imagine if a competitor to Discord came out, like Guilded, that was better in every single way. Discord literally steals features from this competitor, then makes them worse somehow and Nitro only. Objectively, switching platforms would be the best option. What are the chances that you and your friends change off of Discord? 0% chance. It’s never happening. Not because the other platform isn’t better, but because you’re already on Discord, and changing platforms is annoying. I’m not saying kick is better than Twitch, just that even if it *was*, still barely anybody would switch.

I think the problem with Kick isn't just that they are not good enough at making creators moderate their chats, etc, but that being unmoderated is how they sold themselves as a platform. They are actively recruiting creators banned elsewhere for unhinged stuff and have profiled themselves the entire time as an absolute free speech platform. The first thing that happened when Kick went live was that people went into chats and spammed the N-word over and over. The fact that people are now trying to pretend this is not the case because Kick pays them tons of money from all the gambling addicts they've bled dry, really doesn't change the fact that this is who they have always tried to be. They've never wanted moderation and they don't want to change.

I only ever know if someone is live if it shows up on my main page whenever I open youtube or, if for some reason, I look at the tiny little spot where the subscriptions list sits on and they just so happen to be on the 7 first places which is also placed in alphabetical order. It is so difficult to find out who's live on youtube that I still don't know how to search for livestreams here except typing "LIVE" on the damn search bar. Even the EXPLORE section has "Trending", "Music", "Sports", "Gaming" and "Movies". All this to say that, if there's a place in youtube to let us search only livestreams in a manner that doesn't give me an aneurysm faster than I get the results I want, I have yet to find it.

It’s made sustainable because the entire platform is backed by a massive gambling company. If he gets raided its not gonna end well. Though id assume kick has its own form of sub only? Id hope. But with some of the streamers on kick it doesnt fill me with hope. The fact that they're barely even taking a stance or any action towards stopping (or at least moderating) hate speech on their platform will only allow weirdos to thrive on there even more, which means it's only gonna get worse from now on. I hope those baby streamers from the hourly revenue program will be able to keep their careers going afterwards, because even if a big streamer like Sapnap goes through a bad phase, he can easily recover from it. Difference between kick and Twitter is that if things get bad on Twitter you can simply turn notifs off, even make it so that only people you follow or certain people can reply to your post, while kick is a live-streaming platform, so it is LIVE and spam/targeted harassment is just easier to do and bombard people with in that environment

I remember when Ludwig said that kick was gonna fail in a year, he’s so bad at predicting anything that his takes aren’t worth listening to.

i think tubbo made a very good point on this topic honestly, kick is not a safe space for women, poc, or lgbtq+ people.

Personally i don’t its within of streamer’s or site’s responsibility to protect minors from graphic content. Its the “job” of parents or guardians,there is no way to protect a kid who has unrestricted access to the internet in the first place

The problem is that if kick bans chats from saying unhinged shit, you’d have to stop broadcasters from saying unhinged shit and encouraging chat, which would go against the no censorship of kick

i like watching sapnap but i dont want to go anywhere near kick. i can enjoy hes content at twitch or youtube but not at kick. as jewish and bi its so upsetting to see all of those hate comments people make and im not going to support a website who just lets people say this left and right.

Honestly the reason why I see Sapnap moved to Kick is because he wishes to move away from a large majority of his fan base and wants to be accepted by a more mature audience where gambling, s3x, and 18+ topics can be very openly talked about without the minor crowd dragging him through the mud on twitter every time. He wants to move away from the Minecraft streamer he grew famous for and be accepted by a call of duty type lobby. And honestly I don't think his fan base is even going to follow him over to kick because of the moderation problems. They're going to get hate from someone in the chat and Sapnap isn't going to defend the person cause he wants them gone, he's just not going to say it. So once he's forgotten from his minecraft days he gets what he wants which is a more mature fanbase.

NGL having minecraft audience is one of the worst jobs ever, it is like running a day care, but you have thousands of kids at once

Honestly at this point I fully believe Kick is going to become an adult only streaming service with little moderation. Hopefully it works out for the best though

There are channels I watch that have the same moderation as twitch. They have normal mods like a twitch chat that bans and censors the chat to the creators liking.

I think if they changed it to make the adult content opt-in instead of opt-out, you'd see a big improvement. They have a chance to do what twitch should've done, allowing adult content to thrive while keeping it separated enough from your main content base that it's not going to interfere with a younger users experience or annoy people who simply aren't interested in that content. This notion that a site has to be just for adults or just for kids is what's ruining content creation, the platforms should simply be doing a better job at distributing content to the demographic it was meant for

I think part of the problem is the fact that the communities on kick are more unhinged and don't give a damn about what they're saying, I feel that IF they manage to get alot more family friendly content creators, while not perfect, however I do think that side would get watered down alot more and be less noticable, I do think there needs to be more moderation, I get it's meant to be an open website however where's the limit

These changes seem to be great for smaller streamers, and I think with time Kick will become less bigoted. That being said it does seem to be a great option for aspiring streamers. I was pondering that even with these advantages Kick will offer for small streamers, how does the all-mighty Twitch Prime compare to all of it? Would it still be more advantageous to try and make it on Twitch because of that juicy Prime money? I doubt Kick will have a product like that any time soon... Additionally, Kicks moderation is questionable, but to me, that seems to be a problem that is solved with time.
