Three years ago a friend sent me a packet of dahlia seeds. Those seeds birthed ‘Northlawn Saving Grace’ and I’ve been working on different ways I can share her with you. Today I’m sharing an update on the rooted cuttings of ‘Northlawn Saving Grace’ and ‘Martha Miller’ dahlias that Jung Seed sent us.

The world needs people who feel things deeply and find deep meaning in things others might overlook. It sounds as if your grandma was one of those, and perhaps she's part of why you are, too!

Martha Miller is a great name, especially for such a beautiful dahlia. I can't wait to grow her in my garden. I've loved watching your garden grow and transform. Your teaching and sharing has been inspirational and instructive for me. Eventually, when I'm able to grow Martha Miller and see her in my garden, I will smile and think happy thoughts about your story, your garden, and your Grace! God bless you. ❤😊

Love the story of these dahlias. Your grandma I’m sure, would be very proud of you! The planting of seed and plants can be a healing process. Brings hope, new beginnings, a future and of course joy. The other thing is connection with sensitive and like minded people all over the world! I would love a Martha Miller growing in my garden however, getting seeds into Australia can be difficult. Your garden is so beautiful and inspiring. Thank you ❤

This has been our first year growing dahlia from seed to produce our own varieties of dahlia here in Australia. My grandfather used to grow dahlias for my grandmother on their property in the country town called Michelago in the NSW high country. We had one particular plant come up this year that reminded me of my grandmother and her nail polish always red. Nan lived to be 97 years old, and even in the nursing home she would do her hair and her make up to go to the dinning room of a night for her dinner. We are soon to dig up her tuber and see what developed under ground this season. She has lovingly been named “Eunice” I named another beautiful light pink full bloom dahlia Matilda after my grandfathers mother who grew up as a Māori in New Zealand before meeting and marrying my great grandfather and relocating to Australia. Every single seed germinated that I started from these tiny little packets of seed which grew our first years blooms. I can’t wait for this next season to arrive and for our dahlia field to be filled with many more full plants from the tubers I hope to have once we dig them up. All up I ended up with 28 beautiful dahlias which have all been named after family and friends. Bring on late winter for us here to begin next seasons flowers 🥰

First time I've seen a pic of your Grandma. You can tell she was a lovely lady, just like you. You are so fortunate to have had her so close in your life. What an inspiration. I can't wait to be able to obtain a Martha Miller and a Saving Grace! I am also anxious to start gardening with my own granddaughter, who is turning five this year. Perfect age. On her next visit, we will be planting some French Breakfast Radishes, and maybe some pink marigold. I have alot of seeds. I will let her choose. Thank you so much for your inspiration!

Hi! I am pretty new to your site as of this spring and am so impressed by your style. I too am a northern gardener living in zone 4 here in Minnesota,I always come away with something relevant watching your gorgeous setting. Dahlias have become my newest obsession as of last year, there is something so simple yet so rewarding in them. I love the simplicity of this Martha Miller and the tribute was so thoughtful. I will keep an eye out for them and would be so honored to grow one of my own hopefully very soon.

SOOO exciting for you and Martha Miller Dahlia, I truly love your videos so genuine and real you are. A true Gardner and good person !!! I love Jung seeds very much too, Been ordering from them for many many years, when I was a kid I would sneak out to our local bank down the street and get a money order so I could order trees and plants from jungs without mom or dad knowing lol ( I was probably 10) lol. the wait so patiently for my plants to arrive. I wish you much luck and happiness with your garden. We live in such a beautiful area here is PA, if you have time check out the Peony Festival in chadds Ford, its 55,000 peonies its amazing. soooo inspiring !! I came home and planted 50 peonies in rows like they have, just to have a taste of those fields 🙂
